 Can You Hear Me Now?
Location: When you hit the middle of nowhere .. Keep driving | Ok I just bought a new to me cactus saddle and it's a lighter tan- fully tooled. I am continuing to spend (bad me) and looking for a nice flashy tack set to treat Piper and myself to for Christmas . I am however loving some at tack shops in my searching that are mostly darker oil... I don't know if it's just me but I don't know if I will be OCD too much with 2 different colors and hate it. My pad, boots, etc are all black so I was hoping to get some color in the inlay/crystals on the set. Does anyone have pics of dark oiled tack sets with their lighter oiled saddles? Is it a pet peeve for anyone else, or is it just I'm weird?

Location: North Dakota | I HATE HATE HATE when my tack doesn't match but it never seems to! A couple months ago I had a light oil saddle, black cinch, grey saddle pad, black breast collar, dark oil reins, and a red-brown medium oil headstall. I didn't even want to look at it all. I'll attach the only picture I have of my horse with his dark oil breast collar and sidepull with his light oil saddle. Now I have a black breast collar and headstall and am working on getting a black saddle but that will be a while yet.

| I hate different colored tack as well...
I also need my tack to match patterns. So if the saddle is a floral pattern then I cannot have a basketweave breastcollar. |

Location: In the Hills of Texas | Here is a browband headstall and it does have a breastcollar to match. Love the combo of the light and black with the buckstitching.

Rodeo Drive had someone make them for them. Here's a picture a customer of Rodeo Drive took with the breastcollar blinged out.

That is super nice.... I would want to buy that if it wasn't that I've given up barrel racing. |

I like the looks of it too. I've seen some like this around too. I like little pops of color more then lots, so I can handle this with colored crystals on my conchos.
I don't want to just go to a place and knock off another design in a different color if some aren't able to customize it... and I don't know exactly what I want either. I just know when I see it usually... and it never seems to match. Kinda like horse ads ... all the ones that catch my eye are geldings but I don't like to ride them! lol. |

I like matching patterns too... or as close as possible. My every day riding tack is plain jane with no tooling and I can do that with my saddle and be 'OK'.... it's the same color though..LOL. |

Location: Minnesota | My saddle is pretty light, I had a heck of a time finding light enough tack to match it but after a few years of me passing up tack because it was too dark I finally just gave in. I try and match as much as possible but I am not nearly as picky as I used to be. |

Location: Oklahoma | I custom ordered a Luan's Leathers set last year at the NFR. Got it home and I freaked out.... I had made sure the conchos and everything would match my new saddle...... everything but the color of the leather!!! I was lucky ( I guess that's what you call it) that my tack was light and saddle was dark. I bought some deglazer and oil dye and darkened it myself. I am so nit picky about everything matching (unless I'm just around the house), so you're not alone!! I think that most of the bigger and nicer custom tack makers have leather color options. I didn't realize that when I was ordering mine because I was too focused in on the stones, cowhide and conchos to look at the light colored leather! |
