I'd start the loading dose the same month you give injections and then continue to give it monthly. Might as well head off the problem instead of start the Pentosan when the injections start to wear off.

Does any one give Pentosan and Polyglycan? Or Adequan? I don't but know some that do and did not know what the benefit was of if it was too much. We do injections and Polyglycan but don't give the Polyglycan like monthly. About every 3 weeks if she is running, but if the mare has no shows for a few weeks, we don't give the Polyglycan until a few days before the shows. The mare is getting older so wondering if Pentosan would be a better option or if both works?

I personally have not used pentosan but a friend has all her 3 old horses on adequan, no injections, and then gave pentosan to the oldest who was always pretty lame, but the adequan just made him feel better in general. Now since the pentosan, that horse thinks he is a 5 year old again. It's been a really cool change!
