Psalm 68:5 a father of the fatherless and a judge and protector od the widows is God in His holy habitation.
Years ago I thought the way to please God was to live the best Chrisitian life I could. In life, there were so many things that I strove for and I longed to do. I gave hours to cleaning and maintaining a home. I focused on my career, my family. Yet was it enough? After striving to be perfect, I wore myself out, yet, the more I walked with Jesus, and few closer to Him in everyday life, the more I I ask Him to give me His ear. As I read the Bible, I started to realize that there were other things that mattered to God that I wasn't giving time and attention to. Two of those things were orphans and widows.
God speaks numerous times in the Bible of caring for these two groups of people. Children who, through no choice of their own, don't have one or both parents in their lives and widows who, through no choice of their own, poured their lives into a spouse only to lose him or her to death. My heart became tender.
There are ways to help, take a meal to a wido and spend time with her or him, take a fatherless child shopping or out to eat. Each od our walks' with Jesus goes down different paths . Yet though our journeys vary, Jesus' heart is the same. Ask Him to show you how your heart can match His, you may not have the perfect house or stellar career, but your gift to those in need will make Jesus smile.
Thanksgiving and Christmas are around the corner. Take time to give
Father God guide me today to do all things that will bring glory and honor to You AMEN
