Location: Texas | I currently work on a horse ranch and I love my job its the best job in the world in my opinion. Heres my issue I don't make a lot of money there maybe about a little over $100 every two weeks. I normally work about 3 days a week for about 3 - 5hrs a day. I have to pay for my show lambs feed and supplies, my car insurance, gas, and a few other things. My insurance alone is nearly $90 a month and my sheep cost me about $60+ a month. I don't want to quit my job because its my dream job and I love going to work but I need to make more money. So any suggestions? Maybe a second job? Im 17yrs old and Im still in school. Thanks! |

| If you ride, ask around if someone needs a few horses exercised. If you don't feel comfortable with that, and want to keep working with horses, maybe there is another ranch that you can get more hours at. |

That's what i was thinking. If there is a residence on the property, ask if they need housekeeping done while the others are away at shows. It might not be your dream job, but it will keep you close to the farm, maybe open some other doors with the family and help supplement your income. |

I used to clean tack and make bank since I was good at it on the side. Also cleaned stalls, groomed for one of the trainers and did blanket/unblanket as well as meds and supplements. I also handwalked the lay-ups for $5 for every 15 minutes. Lots of extra $$ |

Location: Texas | I would love a second horse related job like that but do you think they will work with my current job schedule? I get what days I'm working on Sunday. |

Location: Texas | Try like walmart or target for a seasonal job. They will work with your schedule. Maybe just tell one place you can work weekends and the other place weekdays something like that. |

Location: Florida.. | House sitting or animals sitting is always good money and doesnt require a set hour to hour.. you can take jobs that work with your schedule enough to make extra |

Location: Texas | Before I graduated high school I was working on two different ranches, and at one point I worked at three. I was honest and upfront with everyone I worked for, so they knew what kind of hours I was putting in for other people and they worked around that. Maybe you could look into getting a second job. I'm from the same area of Texas that you are and I know for a fact there are PLENTY of ranches in the area that could always use a helping hand.
ETA: $100 every two weeks is pretty bad money... I was averaging $50 to $60 for a 6ish hour work day. Perhaps you may want to work somewhere else that will pay you a bit better to begin with. Just a thought. |

No joke on the pay, we pay $450 a week plus a place to live, all bills paid for full time help (7 days a week but not all day every day), and $10 an hour for part time help. We had an incredibly hard time finding full time help, most wanted $500 -600 a week plus a place to live. Good help in your area must not be hard to find. |
