So sad to hear of Blaze Mans colic. Hope he is recovering well! I hope Vicki gets some great offers on horses to run at NFR. she sure deserves that

Because she took that horse, drove the miles, took the countless hours on the road, caring for the horse , invested her money ,time away from her family and made that girls dream of that horse going to the nfr a reality for her memory and her family! That's why! Yes they could have chose any one, but they chose Vickie. And that in itself is deserving enough in my book!

Pretty sure no one is going to vet out of the NFR!  Seriously.....the things that come out of your mouth-I mean keyboard arion !

Here's to hoping 15 days is enough time to get with another four legged beast!

I get what arion is saying and I agree with him. I am sure she will find a horse to run at the NFR. I hope she does after her hard work to get there, but I don't think she deserves it any more than any of the other girls that have had to find a horse at the last minute in years past.

Let's call this a social experiment if you will but I must ask a question. Let me also preface this by saying that her story is emotional and to some inspiring I get that. But why does she "deserve" anything?

It's just that most people want to do something for such a heart wrenching situation.  The family has been through the ultimate loss with the previous rider of Blaze.

True, and the story will go with her.  Vickie will take the Memory of Rachel with her.  It's so Sad that Blaze didn't get to run.  He did get Vickie there.

Geez, I don't think anyone says she deserves it anymore than anyone else... everything has to be so twisted around anymore.  Anyone who made it deserves to actually go, the OP was just wishing her well on finding a horse.

It really sucks to have your horse not be able to go, but I always love to watch the girls that have to jump on another horse at the last minute.. they might not always win, but you get to see how handy they really are, they always make it work, it's admirable.

Sorry Arion but I think your a jack @ss.............I think any of us would hope that if any of the NFR girls couldn't take their main mount, that someone would step up with an awesome horse for them to take to the Thomas and Mack.

Actually, most people do not want to offer their good horses for the NFR. I know girls who have struggled to find one to run when they only had 1 horse and it got hurt. I know I wouldn't offer my good horse if I had one. I wouldn't even offer my current horse and he's a 2D horse at best. That many runs on that ground (which is usually bad, but last year was an all time low). I would be too afraid they would come back hurt or make their last run in that arena. While I don't have actual numbers, just thinking back there is a dis-proportionately high number of horses that have made their last runs ever at the T&M than other arenas that I've run at or been to a lot. Hope she finds one soon though!

Not yet -- plenty of interest but not yet and he's not sure he's going to sell.

There was a bug put in his ear about Vickie needing a mount-and the story behind why her journey is so special but he does not feel Movin is in the best shape right now and worries with the "out of shapeness" of her coupled with the horrible ground, just too much risk of injury.

I pray Vickie finds a horse that will help her make some noise in Vegas. Her story is just remarkable.

I would think someone who owns many horses in the barrel horse business as far as breeding, training, & sales would like to get some of their bloodlines on the big stage as advertisement as long as the barrel racer and horse click and get some practice runs in before having to leave for Vegas.

Vickie has two horses that she is trying out this next week. She will be running and Rachel will be riding with her. I dont understand how people can be so ugly on here. She is very deserving of running and deservering of another horse. I dont think anyone said she is more deserving than anyone else. I would hope that any of the ladies that made the NFR would be able to find another horse if something happened to their horse prior or during the NFR. The comment WWJD... He would never ask why!!!!!

I'm sure pulling for her!  Hopefully she'll overcome this last setback and have an outstanding NFR.  I'd love to see her win the rookie title - how cool is it to get to see someone finally have the opportunity to realize their dreams at 60?  She's a true inspiration to me and I can't wait to see her 'riding for Rachel' down the alley at the T&M!  She's proven herself to be a heck of a hand on multiple horses, I have no doubt that she can step on something else and win.

Any of the ladies that make the NFR and lose their top horse "deserves" to have another one. Why would you even ask that?? It is not just because of her story! Its because she and all the ladies have worked so hard to get there and to not be able to run the horse that got you there has got to be devasting!! I hope one day, you're not in need of someone to help you.

Side note Jackie is very dedicated, it takes someone with a ton of talent to keep horses running at the top of their game, money or no money if you are not talented enough to ride at that level you will never make it and its more than obvious that she is.
It makes me sick all the nasty and snide comments on social media these days. I love how everyone thinks they should offer advice on how to ride, what horse to use.. she should have done this or should have done that... #couchjockey #whereisyourgoldbuckle

skye - 2015-11-19 8:19 PM Jackie has a string of horses.  We just wondered if she would loan one?

Judd Little has supplied horses in the past.  Quite generous!

Just putting this out there... There are plenty of NICE horses out there. I don't think any of the NFR qualifiers would be loaning horses to Vicki nor do I think Vicki would want to be interferring with other qualifiers and there chance to win. Whether it's Jackie or the other 13 girls. I wouldn't be surprised if the Ganters were pulling strings with some of their connections to help Vicki find a horse, If you've met Jackie or her mother or gandmother you would know how sweet and kind hearted they are.

Im also 99% sure that Jason from Highpoint Performance Horses(SBD & previously Kellies chick owner) came on here and said himself Michele was not taking Skye, she has been running Slick and they also have Toby and a couple other awesome horses for her to run.

Robopi - 2015-11-19 10:22 AM The only thing that would make this story better would be if Jackie Gantor offered one of her horses. Would be the story of the year.

LOL dont hold your breath.

Any why wouldn't you hold your breath??

Side note Jackie is very dedicated, it takes someone with a ton of talent to keep horses running at the top of their game, money or no money if you are not talented enough to ride at that level you will never make it and its more than obvious that she is.
It makes me sick all the nasty and snide comments on social media these days. I love how everyone thinks they should offer advice on how to ride, what horse to use.. she should have done this or should have done that... #couchjockey #whereisyourgoldbuckle

My intention was not in any way mean spirited. I hope it did not come across that way. I just think Skye is a cool mare and if I were in Vickie’s situation I would be giving Busbys a call.

I have been told she has some offers of some awsome horses!! There are some great horses out there very capable of running and placing in rounds that do not belong to current qualifiers. It will be fun to see who she goes with and lets not forget, it is a great marketing and resume bonus for horses to get to go. I'm excited to see who she goes with.

nvrenuf - 2015-11-18 1:10 PM Sorry Arion but I think your a jack @ss.............I think any of us would hope that if any of the NFR girls couldn't take their main mount, that someone would step up with an awesome horse for them to take to the Thomas and Mack.

I've been asked to loan my horse. I agree wholeheartly with your statement. That's a tough week out there. Uncle Ed sat me down a long time ago and told me how the tail gets wagged out in the lights. Our industry has lost some greats running at TM.

I've been praying like so many others that the right horse will be under Vicki come NFR time.

This was my first thought too was Skye.. With everything Busby's have done for others in the industry (Amberly) i wouldn't count them out for loaning her to Vickie. then again I'm sure andrea wants that time to be running and 'getting-with' Skye as well.

According to Vickie and Clay's Facebook he is home and eating so I'm taking that as a really good sign.

Update: Clay posted he had a rough night last night and is back in the clinic.

Last updated I saw on Blaze was that he was doing a little better and started to get the light back in his eyes.

Vickie has found a horse to run at the NFR, she won the barrel race she took him to.  First time she had sat on the horse.  This horse just won the American Qualifier in Glen Rose with Rylee Dick.  This update was posted by a friend of both on Facebook.
