Twisted wire snaffle with a dog bone, Jr horse, little S hackamore, and a correction bit with a port
Y'know, I can't think of a horse I've ridden that wouldn't have worked in at least one of these. Maybe not their ideal bit, but they would work. |

I don't stir off of these three too much anyways. I think bits are more for people then they are for horses. :) But i do have multiples of each bit because I hate switching headstalls around. |

| Ugh, just 4, that's tough! A good smooth mouth o-ring snaffle, some type of hak the s-hak seems to be one I go to, I've got a Jim Hyde made bit with 6" shanks and a floating port with rollers in it, I believe he called it a Saville bit, that every single horse I've ever put it in will just ride off in it and any Elliot bit but love my spur up 04. |

...bottom 2 I have used since '88 .
The top two once a horse gets into them , they don't like anything else.I try to sneak them into other chain bits if they need more , or less for competition but use them for everyday ( finished horses)

I think this is hilarious! I too agree-even after I made my 4 bit selection-I've been having a panic attack thinking that I should maybe change my choices-like it was some sort of test-even considered deleting my post just in case it came true!! |

So thats why I havent listed any, but I do have a few favorite's like my Molly Powell large chain mouth piece, my 2 clover bits one is the chain and the other is the dog bone mouth, Sherry Cervi short shank dog bone, just to many for me to list just thinking about only 4 makes my head hurt, lol

The top four I love and would have listed, I don't even use on the horses I have right now (except the occasional standard smooth snaffle). They just ended up working better in different bits. One is trained as a reiner and just isn't as comfortable in anything but a solid small port. I run her in a small port (i think they call it a mullen mouth) butterfly freter. My gelding won't work as well for me in anything but an articulated correction bit... really?!?!?! It's got me scratching my head, but I've tried a whole trailer full of bits on both of them, and that's just what they like. |

I had to add to my list of favorits is the Sherry Cervi short shank dog bone, really like that bit. I also have another one dont know the name of it or if it even has a name, I will have to post a picture of it sometime and see if any body can tell me what the name of it is if it has a name, had it for over 17 years now and really like it.. |
