Location: sunny california | Sometimes i just want to pull my hair out over ungrateful people. A lady was GIVEN two squeezes of hay from a farmer after she complained about the quality of the two squeezes she bought. she had to pay the shipping though. So she offered to sell me one stack to pay the shipping and keep the two she bought and feed it anyway then get a free stack. I said ok I would love to buy 64 bales. anyway the driver would not drop at my house, which is what I agreed to, and rather than screw this lady by her having hay left outside I go and pick it up. as hubby is loading the truck she asks my hubby to look at her furnace as the electrician she hired messed it up. hubby on his sunday after not wanting to have to load hay agrees. he figures out the problem and tells her he has a part at the house she can have, and when we come back for the last part of the hay he will fix. it
we come back and she is nowhere to be found. Hubby fixes her furnace before the snow comes this week on a sunday. my hubby being a nice guy says lets hurry up and get this hay loaded before she gets back so she doesn't feel like she owes me anything we will just surprise her with a working furnace.
she texts me to ask if I counted my bales that night. I said i didn't and hoped she did not get shorted on her stack; ya know the free one. I count and tell her looks to be 66 which hubby confirms that the base row was up on end and had 10 big bales. she sends me pics of her stack claiming that the base is 12 bales and the number is 68.
so now i have to pay for four more bales than i had planned and two more than I actually got. No good deed goes unpunished... it would cost her 300-400 for a service call and repair on sunday and that is if the guy had the part and did not rip her off which happens a lot. also she could not get anyone to return her call and within 1 hour of asking my hubby to look at it is is fixed at no charge and she wants to dicker about a couple bales of hay |

I bought a pair of $30 gloves and a headlamp for a gal that had just started doing work for me at Christmas. Gloves are something me and my Mom give each other. She got ****y because the last gal that had worked for me for almost two years got a $50 bill in a card, both of them had other jobs and worked like a contractor. I guess i should have given her a boatload of money but I didn't have it and did not think it was warranted considering she just started. |

And I know what you mean that's it's not about the money...I've had many, many "no good deed goes unpunished" moments" too, and I just shake my head and wonder what are these people thinking! |

Yes!!! ^^^ Sadly there are to many people like this. :( And it kills me to think someone could be like that, since I can't even imagine doing that, but then it makes me angry, so don't play nice!! |

Your right. It is not about the money. It is about making a point of how ungrateful she is being. |

Location: White Mountains of AZ | Sadly it's also things like this that make you hesitant to "help" the next person. So much drama over something you ( and we ) thought was a "good Samaritan" deed. I had a client find a dog on the side of the rd, picked him up, took him home and fed and watered and gave him a roof. Put up signs all over, Facebook...everything she could think. 3 DAYS later the owner started sending her messages about how could she STEAL her dog and blah blah blah. Made a huge mess, and my friend said to her "because of you, I will most likely never pick up another dog". She was getting blamed for everything under the sun when she was just trying to be nice. |

| Honestly, I would cut my losses and not do business with her again. Your husband did a very kind thing, and she should have been extremely grateful to him.
I would not stoop to her level and send her a bill; she won’t “get it”.
Move on, and don’t let her ungratefulness stop you from doing good for someone else, who could TOTALLY appreciate kindness.

I am glad that I am not the only one. Reading this thread, the whole time wondering what the heck a "squeeze of hay was". Must be a regional thing? |
