I have a mare that is physically fit, on a diet not extremely high in starch, low stress level, and has the hardest darn feet you have ever seen. She recently spontaneous had a bout with laminitis. was getting ready to ride she was completely sound pulling her from dry lot then 10 min later went 2 legged. Arched back feet way out in front text book laminitis. Gave bute padded feet threw her in a stall she had a pounding digit pulse in both front feet. Vet fitted me with banamine and ace. I have an extremely good farrier that ran out as soon as he got a moment and couldn't find anything outwardly wrong the only thing was that her normally rock hard soul wasn't as rock hard but still tuffer than most. The sever pain lasted about 24 hours now she is going to be stall bound for a few more days. I have NEVER had this happen before the vet wasn't concerned about taking radiographs but what do I do now? How long do I wait to ride? How the heck did she go laminatic on me? They have no access to pasture right now just there big dry lot with round bale so I don't think she got into any poison...aaah

For mine, it was the first symptom of cushings. He would founder in January. He was finally diagnosed after several years and eventually getting more symptoms typical of cushings.

This is the only thing I can figure but it's 28° outside and she is still slick and shinny, of healthy weight, working at least 5 days a week, she also just turned 5

Checked feed, checked hay, haven't recently medicated/wormed/vacinated.she hadn't been worked anytime near being fed (over 24) when ground is hard we always trailer to an indoor but her dry lot is pretty hard. She had another episode this morning so as soon as we get her stable enough she is hoping in the trailer for radiographes. This episode happened 4 days after the first.

Any sweating shaking? What color is her urine? Is it dark colored? Any tightness in muscles in rump or back?

Urine is normal colored the first time around her rump + back muscles were tight and heating up from taking the weight off the front feet no shaking or sweating. Intense digital pulse in both front feet. Deff isn't tieing up though (we have one that will tie up every once in a while)

Google Dr. Frank Reilly/Heiro and read the info he puts out There regarding insulin resistance. You can even call him and he'll help you get things figured out.

It's 20° out right now and extremely wet she is in a stall with a TON of dry shavings but her vet doesn't want me to soak her feet due to the risk of making them softer the humidity isn't helping. She is loaded up with bute, banamine, and a good amount of ace. The last 5 years have been a real struggle we have had freak accident after freak accident with different horses and I'm not even setting up for these things there completely unpreventable and I'm not going to let this get me down...I'll just lower my head and push through but I can't help feel God is trying to tell me somthing.

I know how overwhelming things can get, but please keep hanging in there---you have folks praying for both of y'all.

I gave mine Nitroxide to get the blood flow back, stop the digital pulse and ease the discomfort until we finally diagnosed what was going on.

I had a horse go down in just a few hours from shavings that had walnut in them. We almost lost her. I would not expect to see a change the same day from xrays as rotation takes a while. Sometimes up to three weeks. Good luck with her.

Good!!!!!!!! Pretty body sore but digital radiographs show NO rotation and no dark spots in lamini. Sole depth was good no bone changes of any other kind at all. Kept her in a stall last night then we will try letting her out today.
