| Just wondering if anyone on here uses them? I am thinking of trying them. Does anyone know if Fallon use them on Baby Flo all the time? |

| Pros? Cons? Any opinions? I know Fallon uses them, and seems the ground is terrible at the NFR. Think the shoes are making it worse? Or poor ground? Thoughts?

My farrier, who is not some joe schmo, he has worked as an Official Farrier at the Rolex every year since 2008. He refuses to put them on any horses. He says the concept behind them is ridiculous and they offer zero support to the hoof wall. He told me that they are so flimsy, that a horse could barely catch one with a hind toe, and it'll practically bend the shoe in half. And he also said he's seen many horses get horribly sore with them because they have so much grab to them.
To each their own, but I trust his opinion and won't use them on my horses.

Location: Nor Cal | I had them on my gelding for a very short period and they were absolutely terrible. They are very 'sticky' and don't offer any support, not to mention they are as about as light as a feather and bend super easy. |

| My farrier refuses to put them on anything. I looked at them briefly and he convinced me not to.
For what it is worth - the guy I use is not a random farrier, he sets for several very well known ropers and barrel racers including horses that have made NFR. |

| That being said...has anyone ever used "jar caulks?" I know that when we used to jump on grass we used the grass caulks to keep the horses from slipping, but my farrier wants to put jar caulks on my colt when we compete. I absolutely trust him but have never heard of it and don't want it to interfere with the natural movement of the leg. (Sorry...not trying to hijack the thread...just kind of interested if these caulks compare to the Razor shoe.) |

Location: Delaware | Every farrier that I've talked to about the Razor shoes has said a huge no. They have all considered them flat out dangerous. |

Location: MD | I have used them on a couple of horses. One mare worked fine in them and had no soundness issues. She was in them for about a year. They were way too much grab for the other horse that I had them on and I took them off in less than a week. Honestly though, I don't use the ones from here in the States. I have someone who gets them shipped in from Sweden for their Standardbreds and they are a much more sturdy shoe. The farrier spokesman for Razor is quite good and used to shoe for me in northern VA. I would trust him to shoe with them, but I think in the wrong hands/wrong sort of horse, you're asking for disaster. |
