It is starting to look like no one wants to bother to try to "out dress" Fallon Taylor.  I don't blame them, if that is what is supposed to be fashionable I wouldn't want to win either.  Tonight she really crossed the line into completely tacky.  That outfit looked line a batch of pulled taffey gone wrong.

But at least the ground seemed to be better tonight. I can't believe Bling's time with that first barrel, wonder what he can do before this is over..

I actually think most of the ladies are very well dressed this year. I'm excited to see all of Michelle's painted jeans done by Josey Butler. I'm also just really glad that they have done away with all of the long sleeve t shirts that so many were wearing a few years back!

Did you post this to "discuss fashion" or bash Fallon Taylor?

I personally love that she doesn't give a flip about what people like you have to say about her and think that the crazy outfits help her ride more agressive since it all has to do with mindset anyways.

Not that this has to do with fashion, but why does Fallon always wear that knee brace? Did she hurt herself and just wears it prophylactically or...?

I personally enjoy seeing Fallon's outfits and I like that she has put an emphasis on fashion. I don't know that the other girls are just giving up on out dressing her, I just think every one has their own styles, all of which are much more subtle than Fallon's.
Would I wear her outfits? Nope! But I'm glad she wears them. At this point it would just be strange to see her run down the alley in a pair of denim blue jeans, plain brown hat and button up.

It's funny to see what a stir Fallon causes. She's the first to receive criticisms, and she has the biggest "defense" of die hard fans in the sport as well. Love her or hate her, you have to agree she's doing something right.

I definately am not bashing Fallon Taylor, to make the NFR twice on horses she trained is a real accomplishment that few have done.  I love Baby Flo and the way Fallon rides her, just can't wrap my head around the outfits.  And I don't mind flash, I was running when everyone wore plaid, then came the bling period.  My favorite outfits had sequins and flash.  We weren't even allowed to wear blue denim.  But rainbow colored jeans?  Really?

I read somewhere recently an article where she said why she started wearing crazy clothing, and how awkward she felt at first, but now it wouldnt be her without it. I don't remember what the reason was, but it wasnt just random, and she needed to get used to it.
Eta - her buckle gown was gorgeous. I don't know if I could've pulled it off, but it was beautiful on her.
ETA again - I thought that Taylor, Sherry, and Lisa looked great last night. I would love to have Lisa's shirt, and I like the dark jeans with white thread (I'm not a fashion guru, I'm sure my terms aren't right, lol)

Please correct me if I am wrong, but I believe that those outfits are other people's design? She gives different designers a chance to showcase.I am not paying attention at all to what the girls are wearing. I am always watching the horse. ;)

Fallon is hubbys favorite just for her fashion choices alone. Granted, she can kick booty out there as well. But we love seeing what crazy outfit she's going to have on next. I also love that there are so many clips and pictures of her running with a huge smile on her face.

I like how nuts Fallon's stuff is. Is some of it "tacky"? Yes, but it's also fun. I can't stand people who take stuff sooo seriously.

My husband said, what the ? When Fallon ran in and I said , yea well, she can ride and she's laughing all the way to the bank. Flashy doesn't have nothing on Martha et all back in the day of fringe. I watched last nights round 3 times and  didn't  notice what Fallon was wearing until I came here..btw, my husband only recognizes Angie Meadors on a regular basis so I don't listen much to him, lol

You are correct.  She's done this since the first time she made it back to the NFR.  I think it's cool and takes some guts to wear something that you didn't pick out, design or would otherwise probably chose to wear (at times) so in my eyes, she's a pretty good sport in that sense.

I think the only thing I've ever really hated seeing her wear was the green fringe outfit from Round 1 of this year.  While I don't really care for fringe (just not my thing), I flat out hated that it was so long and flowing all around that it was hard to see her body movements and that of BabyFlo with all that going on.  Everytime I see that outfit, it just makes me think about 5 year old girls who have those long streamers on the knobs of their bike handles and how the streamers fly out as they are riding their bikes.  Cool for a bike -- distracting when running barrels.

As for hats -- I would love to have any of the ones she has posted pictures of on FB that match the outfits that she is wearing.  Talk about awesome!

I think it is probably pretty difficult to look fashionable when you have to sponsor your sponsor patches all over your shirt. They are doing a great job, but those sponsor patches are never fashionable. LOL  I do understand they are necessary.

The Rock'n Wilson's patches are pretty sporty looking, but I admit, most patches should pretty much just be a big ole bumper sticker slapped across your chest! Lol

Too bad they couldn't put all the sponsor patches down their pant leg or something, but then they wouldn't show during their autograph signings/pictures. It would be hard to press a pair of pants with patches on them. LOL

I get lost when a thread gets past one page lol. I get really confused when it opens up the last page from my phone and I think I'm reading the first page!
Maybe I'm just fussy but I thought saying "if that is what is supposed to be fashionable I wouldn't want to win either. Tonight she really crossed the line into completely tacky" was uncalled for. It's fine to not love everything someone wears, but I just get so tired of women tearing each other apart instead of supporting one another.

I remember that! She also had ssome long fringe too!

Yes she is Jolie's mom. Jolie's outfits were always entertaining.

I think she still dresses pretty entertaining while she competes....... look here....

I actually liked Fallon's jeans, if she paired them a less wild shirt she would have a really cute outfit.

I like her jeans too. On her fb and snap chat she always has pictures or videos of them in those jeans and some of her ranch dressin shirts and they look really cute I think. Now I could never pull off fringe, but take the fringe off most of her nfr shirts and I would love to have them. They do have a pair of pants that like the left leg is white and the right leg is black... I want them bad! Lol

With the fringe and stuff, I just think it is her thing. I almost expect her to always be wearing some over the top outfit. (Today she had the American flag painted on her lips). I think of it like this... Dolly Parton has the biggest boobs, hair, and lips I've ever seen. But that is her thing, she likes the way she looks and doesn't care what anyone else thinks. Some people love it, some people hate it. Doesn't make her any less of a singer... and fallons clothes don't make her any less of a jockey.

ETA. In the beginning I wasn't as fond of fallons clothes either. I was thinking of it more as I would never wear that. Now my thinking is, props for being brave enough to put yourself out there like that. I still might not wear it, but she never asked me if I wanted to so I guess that doesn't matter lol.

Personally, I wouldn't wear the clothes she wears simply because that isn't my style. However, she certainly has caused a stir and a change in trends in the entire industry, and that alone is enough to say the influence she has. I follow her snapchat and she always has such a positive vibe. She encourages everyone to be themselves, and strive for what they dream and believe in. THAT in itself is enough for me to overlook her "crazy" outfits.

This is how I feel too. Her style (fashion and riding) is definitely not mine. But she has the guts to put it out there and say "this is who I am". I can respect her for that. And you have to admit she is an ambassador for the "joy" of barrel racing. My favorite style of riding is the quiet finesse of Sheri or Lisa, but Fallon sure reminds you it is FUN to run fast and turn hard.

Fallon makes an impact on whoever is looking at her...good or bad, she leaves her mark and everyone who knows barrel racing, knows who that is out there without even calling her name, or Baby Flo's for that matter!  If Fallon stopped barrel racing tomorrow, those who have ever seen her at the NFR will have an indelible memory of her at the mention of her name....not so much for some of the more quiet  barrel racers as from a "distance" they can be hard to tell whose who and, while we will remember them and their accomplishments, those memories will not be quite so vivid.  All due respect for these ladies of great accomplishment, but some, in comparison to Fallon, are a bit "generic", (for lack of a better word)..as in they look a lot a like...and that's fine...not a thing in the world wrong with that....just not necessarily really memorable years from now as in colors etc.  Of course, everyone has their own priorities...Fallon's priorities are both winning and looking different while she does it.

Vivid...colorful...fun...joyful...a sight to remember...made her impact and made it with a huge statement...one of a kind cowgirl...that is Fallon Taylor!

Posted in vivid color ...because it is Fallon we're talking about!

One thing that Fallon has going in her favor with her eccntric outfits, is I KNOW that it's her coming down the alley within a split second!!

Definately too wild for my tastes, but wear what you want and rock it.

I just can't imagine all the WORK Fallon puts into her outfits. Does she have multiple saddles that she uses on BabyFlo? I mean, she has a matching neon latigo strap each and every round! I hate changing those darn things. They are such a pain! Got to give her credit for going to great lengths for each outfit.

While I am not that big a fan of her riding style you cannot argue that she doesn't get the job done.  I remember Fallon last summer in Abilene at the Texas State HS Finals and the crowd of little girls around her was wonderful.  She knows how to work the crowd in a positive way and looks like she enjoys it as much as her fans.  Her biggest fashion accessory may be her smile.  The pictures of her smile while running home is dazzling.

Does anyone remember steer wrestler Sid Steiner??  I bet it's been 10 years since he rodeo'd and he won one world championship.   Am I dating myself by bringing up Sid Rock & his hot pink fuzzy shirt and cornrows???   I don't remember many past steer wrestling champions but I remember him.  Fallon will be the same for people who are not barrel junkies like us. In my opinion if if brings some positive attention to our sport and she's happy then more power to her.

Cows and horses are color blind so to them she is just another cowgirl.  I am glad that she is teaching young girls that they can be anything they want to be and that they don't have to follow the status quo to be successful. This is what I have taught my daughters and as a father I am very proud of them. If I was Fallons parents I would be very proud of her for following her own personnality.

Nope. He came to the rodeo, won a World title and went on to another adventure. At some point, I want to say that he was attempting a music career. Not sure if that worked out though. If it had, I'd probably own every record he ever made. Lol

Sid's brother "Tommy Shane" is the musician.  Was still in Nashvile last year.

Sid's daughter is running barrels. Steely is 11 ish now and their son Rocker (9) is a wake boarding champ.

Sid's dad won the World bull riding in the early 70's and his grandfather was a stock contractor.  So Sid had some rodeo background.  He was a champion wake boarder before he started team roping and then doggin.  His wife made the NFR as well.

Sid was working the family ranch and at a saddle shop.  Plus the family has the Steiner Steakouse.

And that is my contribution to "Where are they now?"

I have never been a FT fan until this year, she is a marketing god, what she is doing for the sport of barrel racing is unreal, not many others can say that. All the power to her and her "tacky" clothes she is bad a$$

I had to revive this. One of my fb peeps just posted a pic of Fallon at this mornings barrel practice at the T&M. She's wearing hot pink tye died onesie pajamas, hot pink tennis shoes and her helmet. All while stopping to let some young girls take pics with her and BabyFlo. All you haters can stuff that in your pipe and smoke it - I don't care what she wears - she is nice to people.

Not only that, but she is aware of her haters. If you follow her on snapchat, she posted this morning that she had a onsie on. Apparently people were saying she was unprofessional for practicing in a onsie. So she posted & told all the haters to get ready to screen shot... As she was practicing in a onsie. I really applaud her for this. I love her sarcasm & how she really blows steam up the haters you know what!

I'm a huge fan of her round 6 outfit too. I really think her getting all dressed up like that is more or less bringing back old time ways. Since when did us rodeo or cowgirls start dressing so down? Do you know how hard it is to dress "country/western" at my office setting? I'm no high-heel & suit kind of girl, but I wear my boots & it's a pain in the butt trying to find cute NON T-Shirt type of tops.

Plus-I have no problem recognizing her right away. (I mean I don't have a prob recognizing the girls anyway) but for kids & people who are new to the sport or anything like that, it's super easy to keep up with what rider she is. She stands out & it can be easier to be a fan this way.

My only problem with what she wears in this description is that she is riding in tennis shoes.  I don't care if they are purple with pink polka dots but she should have boots on - and they'd likely be purple with hot pink polka dots - but they'd be boots.

This week we got to visit with lots of NFR people from Mary Walker, Taylor Jacobs even Joe Beaver. All were crazy, over the top nice, and the bull riders have done something incredibly kind. There is no way for me to thank them.......ropers, well, did not talk to many of them. Our cab driver even said that rodeo week brought in a better group of people than any other event in Vegas.

Speaking of nice people and the NFR....we were in our seats one night and a friend called and asked our 10yo daughter if she wanted to come sit with them on the front row. Well she dropped Mom and Dad like a hot potato to get a front row seat. lol

I couldnt agree more. I was never a huge FT fan, I wasnt a hater either but I just didnt have much of an opinion either way. But she has done some incredible things for the sport. Would I wear some of her outfits, no but there are some I would. but just because there are ones that arent my style, doesnt give me a reason to hate on her. She is so positive and i think she is good for the sport!~

I know lots of people that ride with tennis shoes? I've even seen some NFR qualifiers (not fallon) show up to a jackpot, warm up in tennis shoes and then switch to boots for their run. What's wrong with that? Other than the heel issue..

I was not a fan of Fallon till I saw her Snapchat, you know what she is?? She is fun, she is positive (for the most part) and motivating. She may slip some but at least tries to be a role model   She is also very savvy and knows this is good business.  I don't begrudge anyone who can parlay barrel racing into a full time career.

Goodness, I think you read too much in to this and no need to cuss.  Everyone can wear what they want and we all have our opinions.  Mine is that riding in boots is a safety issue.  Tennis shoes might be fine for some but I for one don't want my foot going all the way through the stirrup - which has a greater chance of happening with tennis shoes on.  If you choose to wear tennis shoes fine but my preference is boots for safety reasons for me.  That is all I am saying.   Happy day!

Please correct me if I am wrong, but I believe that those outfits are other people's design? She gives different designers a chance to showcase.I am not paying attention at all to what the girls are wearing. I am always watching the horse. ;)

Yes...and you can submit your designs to have her review them to wear. Hopefully one day I will be a contender. I made some stuff for her to use on BabyFlo and sent it to her Gratis...but I was unaware that BabyFlo onl uses a small so they were too big. Would I wear what Fallon does? Probably not in a million years, not my style, but then again she would probably never dress my style either (wide brimmed, Gus creased hat, et al), as I tend toward the more old timey, early rodeo style. Do I care what she wears? Not really except that I have to look at it on all the young girls and find it a bit jarring to the eyes. My personal opinion is pick ONE flashy thing and let it stand out instead of a screaming cacophony of bling, shine, fringe and color. But again, that is the personal opinion of someone who just plain missed inheriting the "style gene".

If I could ever make the NFR, would I care if I was recognized? Not one bit. I just want to be good enough to earn my way there, I could care less about the fame aspect so many seem to focus on.

Each to their own. I will defend Fallon's right to wear whatever the rules allow just as hard as I will fight for someone to dislike what she/anyone wears. Give the girl some credit...she made it.

Awww sweetheart that's fine to have your own opinion BUT when that opinion is posted on a public forum bashing them for wearing running shoes during a practice? Give me a break, do something more productive with your day. NOW Im NOT saying that towards the women who ONLY posted that on here, it was a general statement, just because they are wearing tennis shoes does not mean that they are not improving the sport. Heck it just shouldn't matter when that is the 1st thing people notice, to sit back and pick apart someone for the simple fact of what they are wearing on their feet during a PRACTICE is ridicules. It would be like someone following you around everywhere you go and nagging on what you do. WHY does anyone care what is on her, or other girls feet? Why do we care what clothes she wears? If she is using bell boots or not this run, if she only wears a helmet 5% of the time.... The big events like the NFR bring out the nasty in people and everyone thinks they are on their own pedestal, ok maybe not everyone but a few of the same ones sure do. :)

If she is using bell boots or not this run, if she only wears a helmet 5% of the time.... The big events like the NFR bring out the nasty in people and everyone thinks they are on their own pedestal, ok maybe not everyone but a few of the same ones sure do. :)

LOL!!!!

I love the traditional stuff, I remember how Mary Walker looked so amazing that first year she and Latte killed it at the NFR with her kind of Vintage inspired shirts and kerchiefs. Having said that I also love the bling and the fluff and feathers that Fallon brings to it. It would be different if that is all she brought to it. She ddin't get there by wearing wild shirts and tye died pants, she got there on the back of a gritty tough little mare who any one of us would be blessed to call our own whether you like the mares style of running or not. For me watching those two come up the alley gives me goose bumps just like watching Lisa and Louie come up it, they are a team and its beautiful no matter how it comes packaged.

willrodeo4food - 2015-12-09 10:20 AM I had to revive this.
My only problem with what she wears in this description is that she is riding in tennis shoes.  I don't care if they are purple with pink polka dots but she should have boots on - and they'd likely be purple with hot pink polka dots - but they'd be boots.
Let her wear what she wants...who cares...but If she was supporting and improving barrel racing she should not have been wearing tennis shoes.  That is not teaching the new younger generation anything.
who gives a sh** what she has on her feet and how on earth does it effect you? There was a picture today of them all riding and quite a few had running shoes on... hell I ride barfoot in the summer, whats it to you> jesus!
Are you ten?  Be an adult for god sake.  This is a discussion forum not a place to attack and be-little  people.  GROW UP!!  Everyone has their own opinions...you keep riding barefoot.  Good luck with that!!
I never bashed anyone for wearing tennis shoes, nor did anyone else.  YOU SAID IT!!  Everyone is entitled to their own opinion, and yes this is a public forum...DUH!!  Your rantings are the only ones that are important.  Me do something more productive with my time....LOL...Sweetheart you are too funny!!!..   We could go back and forth all day long but you don't mean a thing to me so I am not going to waste anymore time.  I don't like when people ride horse and wear tennis shoes!!  I don't like when anyone wears tennis shoes not only Fallon Taylor.  I am going to HELL!!

lol I never said that "you" bashed her. If you read what I wrote it was that it was a general statement to those who are bashing her for wearing them and NOT only on this forum. Relax!

hoofs_in_motion - 2015-12-09 4:45 PM I would actually wear those cute black/white navajo print looking pants she has on her website.
I loved the helmet she wore last night! The pink Mohawk!

My first thought was she was trying to get a new sponsor with that helmet.   Aaaaaaand, I'm probably on the naughty list now.

And I am on the really naughty list because I ride in Tennis shoes all the time at home. Have done so for ummm, cough, gag, ummm a lot of years now and not once has my foot slipped through a stirrup.

Of course I have rather large feet....another reason I wasn't genetically geared to be a fashion plate.

I like to see people dress in a way they represent their sport (or job) with professionalism. I love bling and color and I like clothes that are fun; however, as barrel racers they represent the top of their sport and women in rodeo. The same is true for any profession, you aren't just representing yourself, it's everyone in your profession. Even when you are just at a practice, you are still being seen by the public; you are still representing your profession and women in rodeo. Wearing PJ's to a practice is in the tacky department. You wouldn't expect people at the pinnacle of their profession wearing onesies on the job.

As the OP who has been bashed for saying tacky.  I stand firm on this, that helmet with the Roman mohak makes a mockery of our sport.  That crosses the line to out of control merchandizing for profit vs any respect for our sportl

I'm Not  big Fallon fan.  But good grief people.  ENOUGH!

Have you ever been to a rodeo when the only time to get in the arena is 4 - 5 am?  You may see all sorts of things.

Practice at T & M is not open to the public.
