Supplements during off season?

Elite Veteran Posts: 1162 Location: White Mountains of AZ	Right now my 7(almost 8yr) gelding is on a hoof/joint combo from SmartPak. He's hardly getting worked and with me being more pregnant every week, he's not gonna be getting worked hard. Would you keep him on them or try something cheaper for the winter months, or take him off completely?

If those supplements are keeping inflammation under control and joint fluid quality good, then taking him off will allow those areas to deteriorate. However, you may just want to lower the dose a little to maintain the system since he is not being used
