Location: Texas | I need to make an offer to someone on a board agreement and I just don't wanna come up with something unfair that might seem offensive..
I'm thinking I provide grain, clean stall
Other person feeds, provides hay, and turns out/brings in.
I really just need morning feed/turn out as I will be out there 6 days a week in the evening.. I think it sounds fair, but I don't want to get off on the wrong foot or make it sound like i'm being needy. No harm in double checking..

Sounds fair just be prepared board is expensive when they provide hay just as hay is expensive. . . But this sounds like a typical partial care lease around here. And some places add X$ per extra service. Even down to an extra $10 a month to blanket the horse for them every night. | |

Well she already has set rates for self, partial, and full care so thats why I was worried about making it fair. She seemed pretty flexible though. The price is pretty good ($350/mo) with indoor arena and lots of trails. It's a beautiful place too only 9 miles from my house and 4 miles from work and school. So I'm really hoping it works out | |

Location: Jersey Girl | IMO partial care is when the owner provides the feed and hay but relies on the barn manger/ owner to take part in feeding. But it can really be anything you agree too.

Sounds right on target price wise if they are providing hay. We get $200 to feed in the mornings, owner supplies all feed, and we dont have an indoor, but free access to outdoor arena with lights. | |

| I don't see a price in your post that you are offering, or what her prices are already for full, partial, and self care. What does her partial include that makes your's different than hers? If you are already providing grain, I'd provide my own hay too, unless the barn grows their own good quality hay they will "sell" you at a reasonable price. Look at the difference in price in self care and what you can get hay you want for in the area, and then figure what that's worth to you to not have to deal with.
I did self care at a barn, that was great at first, but the lady ended up crazy and I couldn't take it. 20 acre pasture, all horses turned out together. Basically all she provided was the land, water, barn and I had access to a stall. I provided feed, hay, shavings, fed my own horse, blanketed my own horse. There was no arena to ride in, but a large chunk of the pasture was flat enough to ride in, if you didn't mind the other horses following you around. Anyway, I digress. That cost me $150/month. Which isn't bad. And I would have stayed longer, except there wasn't a circular driveway, and the lady cussed me out when I backed the trailer onto a small section of the "lawn" to turn my short 2H bumper pull around when I pulled in to haul my horse out to an arena to actually work her in (she was 3 and needed boundaries, sometimes!) | |
