I've been several times for the stock show. My nephew has shown quite a few steers there.
It's fun, lots of shopping and things to look at. The rodeo is also a great one.
We always stayed with family so I'm not really help there - but, the city is fairly easy to get around in and we always have at least one night out on the board walk/ river walk area.

San Antonio has been voted the best building rodeo in the PRCA many times. It is in the Spur's AT&T coliseum. They always have great entertainment. The schedule for that is already up and tickets are available. There are many options where to stay but I wouldn't stay close to the fairgrounds. I would stay downtown San Antonio or out on the west side of San Antonio on I-10.
Here is the link to the San Antonio Livestock and Rodeo.

I would book rooms now if you are going, especially if you are going to stay near the show area. It's a fun event to go to but there are tons of people traveling in for it -- especially the kids showing -- so getting rooms may be a problem if you don't book soon (or even like a year ago lol).

The San Antonio stock show and rodeo are the best, there is just so much to see and do..But you better book rooms early, but dont stay around the arena, kinda the bad part of town, get a room closer to down town San Antoino you'll love it there. The River Walk is a cool place to see and the Alamo is close by..

There are two brand new hotels off of IH37 south and SE Military. You have easy access to go back to the venues at the arena. Plus on the south side you have the oldest system of viaducts in the US and the Mission Churches.
