Just totally curious because they seem to stick so well .....

Are they hard to peel off when you are done? Does your horse lose some hair with it?

I've never used them and I've always wondered about this.

Nope they aren't, and I've never had hair come off if I do pull the rest off. Mine usually fall off before I even do anything. I swear I've tried everything, maybe my horse is too soft.

I continue to use them but usually see all my money hanging by a nostril right before my run, literally.

Take an alcohol prep pad and clean the nose and let it DRY before you apply the nasal strip. THen they stick like crazy and you actually do lose a few nose hairs.. lol Having said that, since I have been using the CUROST, I no longer use the strips. My horse with allergies cools down and breathes like a normal horse so I use that money towards another bag of curost.

I have a pack left that I'll use up and then I'm thinking I wont need them anymore either- thanks Cur-Ost!

Never use any thing to clean the nose but a clean cloth. If you use anything you run the chance of iterating the horse and making it harder to get off. Always apply them before you saddle your horse. If your horse is hot and sweaty they will not stick as well. Leave the strips on for a few hours after the run to help the horse recovery. This will also help the strip come off easier.

I just stick them on before I start to get him ready. And like someone else mentioned, leave them on for quit a while after you get done running and cooling down. They should come off easily.

^^This - I was having a bit of trouble getting them to stay on super hot humid days, until the guy from Flair strips walked me thru an application at the WPRA finals last year.  In addition to thoroughly wiping the nose with a clean dry towel - he roughed the hair up.  Fold the Flair strip on the sides before applying to your horse's nose so that it conforms more easily.

After applying them the way that he did - mine stay put.

^^^ yes yes yes. Mine will stay put for hours after a run if the nose is towled off prior to application, and will remove a few hairs too once it does start to peel up.

My horse doesn't mind me putting them on, but he does not like it when i peel them off! They stick really well. I think if you put them on too high up on the bony or cartilagenous part of the nose, they tend to pop off easier.Ive seen lots of people do that.

I often wonder how the people riding these horses would like to have one of those nasty things stuck on their noses.

I guess they feel same way some using a strip for snoring or a athletic when they are competing. Awesome because they can breath better.

Probably like the strip much better, than having to get lasix.

When I go jogging I use breath right strips. And they're amazing! Without them, I cannot breath through my nose effectively.

We have had this conversation before, but I can not get them to stick and stay on our mare.  It looks good but as soon as she starts to sweat it comes off, and every run it is 1/2 off and sticking straight out when they come out of the arena.

Had a vet tell me to prep the area with alcohol.  Actually she did it and put the strip on...still came off.

Had the manufacturer tell us the black ones seem to stick better in the south (where I am).

Also was told (but can't remember who) to shave the area of her nose/face that it needs to stick to but I'm just not comfortable doing that.

We may try one more time with black ones.  I like the idea, and I believe they work, but just not for us.  This mare is an excessive sweater (hahaha sweater :) )

I have a gelding that has IAD... he is an excessive sweater. I just spray a light layer of elmers craft bond on the edges of the flare strip. It works great and the strips stay on until I pull them off. The craft spray by elmers is like 3 bucks at Walmart or where ever..
