On the pattern I love how I can just fly to the first barrel and I know my horse will stop and turn it!! (Second barrel, not to much lol) Off the pattern I love how much of a goofball my horse is! He's just a big kid. Oh and he LOVES peppermints. Gotta give him a few every ride lol.

Location: NE Texas | He's been a challenge, but what's not to love, right? He keeps me on my toes and is not overly affectionate, but he tolerates me. It makes me laugh when he acts like he's scared of my friends or he doesn't like them and backs his ears or stomps his feet at them. They ask me what his "deal" is, and I reply, that's just Ricky. He's the most talented horse i've ever had the pleasure of saddling, and just too smart for his own good. There are days I cuss him and days I praise him, but every day I love him because he's such a turd.

| My horse loves to work, and I love that! He is SO laid back, I can take him anywhere and ride him in a halter and leadrope, bareback. He also loves me. :) He tries his heart out for me, no matter what the conditions are.

Location: Oklahoma | I LOVE the fact I've had this guy since he was a weanling. He's logged over 6,000 miles hauling by the time he was 4. He's been across the country 2 times. He is also the most well minded, even tempered loving stallion. He's my heart and soul and takes care of my daughter.

| I love everything about her. She's gorgeous, she's smart, she's a PITA getting into things, she's a Diva to the core, she's sweet as pie to my old crippled gelding sharing her hay piles with him, she has a HUGE heart, and we have learned so much together along the way that I never expected. |

LOL... he was a 4 year old and we were invited to ride through the ballroom at the Hilton in Del Mar, CA for an event. He walked around a full room of people with bright lights, loud music, etc. Never faltered.

| TwistedK, that is awesome!! I love my main guys personality and how bonded he is to me. He was my daughter's high school rodeo horse, she went to college and he was not being used. My other girls were well mounted. He was not for sale but Taylor Jacob's mom was always asking to try him. I finally priced him and said they could take him to try. I told my husband I was going to get on him at least once before he left- I had not been on a horse in 20 years. We just walked around the pasture. I got off and was setting poles for my daughter, at the third pole when I let go of the reins he took off back to the barn about 75 yards away. He came to a screeching halt, looked at me and came running back with a look on his face saying he was sorry and stopped right in front of me. My husband saw it and said well there goes 30k, yep I said he is not going anywhere. I knew he would take care of me so I started running barrels on him. At home I don't have to put a halter on him, he will follow me anywhere, can be grazing next to the trailer and I can call him to load up and he will load by himself. |

Location: Winging It in KY | One is always happy to see me and nickers at me. He is very much in my pockets and always has to touch. I can call him to come in from the paddock and he will run as fast as he can go to get there and then slide to a stop right in front of me for his halter to be put on. He is always eager to please. He's not really seasoned yet on the barrels so he is still learning. But he tries very hard.
The other one is okay with being messed with. He likes to nuzzle me every now and then but mostly he is a loner. I'm okay with that. On the barrels, he is point and shoot. The harder you ride the better he does. I don't always ride hard enough and he makes mistakes because of me. But he's fun to ride.
The best thing I like about both of them: THEY PUT UP WITH ME!!! |

Those types of horses are hard to sell emotionally. I've actually had mine offered for sale, and believe it or not, there wasn't any interest in him. I've since decided to keep him unless the perfect home presented itself. |

She is forgiving but also reminds me to pick my battles. There is no better feeling then when she walks over to me in the pasture. She is a kind soul and wise beyond her years. She loves kids and knows she has to be extra careful around them! There really is something about the outside of a horse that is good for the inside of a person...

Location: North Dakota | Gosh where do I start. I love everything about Cash! We don't barrel race but have started mounted shooting. I love that even the very first time I shot off him he never so much as flinched at the sound of the gun. I love that he's super handsome. I'm a sucker for a big chestnut with a lot of chrome. He has that AND a blue eye as a lovely bonus! I love that when I walk in the barn he greets me with the loudest, most obnoxious nickers and has his face practically pressed against the bars of his stall (and no, I don't do the feeding. The barn staff does. He's genuinely excited to see ME). I love that he's always in a good mood and if he refuses to do something, I've either failed in communicating it right or there's a physical issue going on. I love that he doesn't get worked up or spooked at little things. He takes pretty much anything in stride. I love that he's curious and expressive. He always wants to know what I'm doing and isn't shy about telling me if he likes or dislikes something. I love that I can put friends/family that have never ridden on him and he'll take care of them. I love that he always hops right in the trailer. Even after 12 hours on the road with a total stranger (me), he never hesitated to load the next day to finish the trip to his new home. I love that he's good for the vet, farrier, dentist, etc. I love that I can go in his stall or pen and just love on him and hug him and give him kisses. I'm a cuddler and I appreciate a cuddly horse. I love the way he makes me feel. I never thought I would find a horse I loved as much as Drifter, who was owned by a boarder at my old barn. I rode him in lessons and competed on him a bit. When I had to leave him I thought I was leaving my horse-y soulmate. Well after a few years and lots of pain, God brought me Cash. The love of my life. My best friend. There will never be another like him. |

Location: MD | Well I have two so we'll start with the youngest. I'll do my best to keep it short, but probs not! I LOVE THESE POSTS!
Tonka
On the pattern - I love that he will ALWAYS keep me safe, maybe won't be the fastest on the block but he won't ever do something to lose me or throw me. He's the bomb- 9 out of 10 times Tonka will safety up if I get behind until I catch back up, then he'll hustle back up again definitely a keeper for me since I struggle with confidence.
Off the pattern - He is the sweetest, most puppy like personality and is just the most welcoming horse. He wins over most everyone he meets with his subtle curiosity and his puppy face. He's also so smart, this is the same horse that was picking up lead changes in one ride within 30 mins and I'm not exactly dena k here!
Hemi
On the pattern - He doesn't have an ounce of quit in him. He will run with three legs if you ask him to and he'll give every bit he has. He also is so exciting for me, he will put his head down and say, "Hang on mom!" (at least that's what I think he says ;)
Off the pattern - He's sassy and full of silliness, always flips his lips up when eating treats, shaking his head doing his silly excited stomps and nickers when you pour in his grain. He is also a go with the flow kind of dude, he's perfectly fine hanging out in his stall all day as long has he has food, and a few pets. He's never needy and self entertaining, and ALWAYS playing with and protecting Tonka from horses that are mean to him, it's so much fun to watch both of them racing around each day. |

| I have two...well kinda three now because I am going to buy mom's horse, Spencer. Casanova is one of those horses that never has to be ridden and he will give you 100 percent as if he has been ridden every day. He is always happy to do work. Super laid back and dependable. 100% gameface when he enters an arena...even when he was a colt and I was just seasoning him to rodeos he never found an excuse to do anything "coltish". Hollywood is one of those horses that I cant help but love because he LOVES me. He does whatever I ask and whatever my little girl, 2 years old, asks him to do without protest or argument. He is steadly becoming one of those horses that I know I'll be able to depend on no matter how many days its been since he was last rode. He is also 100% business when he gets in the alley and it doesnt matter if he has seen a barrel in six months, he craves it like he had just made a run the day before. Spencer is young, and I have gotten to run him a few times now. Usually I ride him if he has had a break, or if mom doesnt feel like getting out in the cold....he is the best minded colt. Even when he is silly he isn't dangerous and he has really started to figure out what his job is in the arena and I really appreciate the fact that I can blow him in there to the first barrel and him set and turn it just as hard as either of my open horses. |

Location: Montana | My mare...hard to describe, LOL. She is just one of those horses that you can trust...she might get a little fresh now and again, but you never feel out of control or like your gonna get hurt. I'm sure not everyone can get along with her because she will try to bluff you, but you can put anyone on her because she'll take care of them. I love her to death, and I would have another one just like her. She can be lazy and hard headed, but so far she is the best horse I have owned. She's not the fastest thing around, but she is pretty consistent and doesn't like to hit barrels. And she is a horse that you can walk into the arena and trot a pattern or go in there and run it. Off the pattern she's a little "hot" I think on trails because on trails she is all about GO and can go all day, but she and I enjoy them because we get our exercise and stay in shape that way. I love her and now as she is getting older, she's gonna be semi-retired to be a momma and I'm hoping I get some foals just like her (maybe a little faster! LOL). And she is a horse I kind of lucked into...my first "project" that my friends mother-in-law had for sale. She raised her and was getting out of raising horses. Just a good thing the whole way around. We've had our trials, but I love that little horse...not sure I can just pick on thing, ha-ha.

Location: 31 lengths farms | As someone else said...where to start???? LOL!!!
Justa Smooth Ruler, aka Tucker: First horse I started from the ground up and he made me think colt starting was a breeze..dirty little lie. He isn't really bred to do anything but does it all, though he does have a very limited BS meter. You got 3 tries and then he gets irritated at you that you obviously can't hold up your end of the bargain. He isnt't the type of horse that anyone oohs and ahhs over immediately, but give them 30 minutes around him and there asking if he is for sale. The answer is and always will be No. He is the horse that all my dreams I had as a horse crazy kid growing up that have come true have been on his back. Dreamed of learning to cut, check, dreamed of going down the fence, check, dreamed of running at Pendleton, check and check$, LOL!!! That horse when you have been beat up and feel less than, you get on and suddenly most things are right in your world again. All the meaningful things anyway.
Rusty's Snapple Sec, aka CC: How does a bat crap crazy, Bi-polar/ADHD tyrant end up getting under your skin? Grit, will, heart, more grit...that's my guess. Dumped me 3 times her 3 year old year, last time busted me up pretty darn good. Sent her to someone who called me after the first day and asked in all seriousness if she had gotten into Loco Weed. Nope thats just CC. Scared and scared of being scared though I didnt' realize it at the time. Took a few years and a fractured patella and a lot of hand walking for me to realize what makes this horse tick and how much she had managed to absorb even while scared 90% of the time, a lot of nights sitting on the gate watching her during that time praying to God that he heal her enough to be a pasture ornament and I'd be happy. Those 10 months and the 3 months of legging her back up taught me so much about what how this mare procrsses, she isn't Tucker and that's okay, finally. I needed her in my life to become a better horseman. And thank God it happened then, the becoming a team. We needed that teamwork to get her thru the bladder stone and kidney issues, I finally could read in her eye and her manner what was too much, when we needed to lay off a day, when simply walking a lap in the worked up area was going to brighten her up a bit and I realized how blessed I am to get to ride a little he** cat like her. She is a handful, she makes me work, she stretches my abilities, sometimes makes me question them and I wouldn't trade any of that for the world.
This is them...CC is the little one on the left and that would be Tucker on the right...

| My little Mustang I adopted as a feral 3yr old, about 12 years ago. Once he formed a bond with me..he became a big time mama's boy ! Gentled him, trained him on barrels & poles , and much to everyones' surprise he won 2nd place for the season in the 4D( our local NBHÀ club with around 80 entrees normally. ) He'll try anything I ask of him, and he is the most intelligent horse I've ever owned. I can communicate silently with him , he's so tuned in to body language. Definatly my best friend :) |

 Am I really the Weirdo?
Location: Kansas | I have 4 so this will be a long post. Here goes - from tallest to shortest....... Streak - He's seriously the sweetest horse I've ever met. He loves everyone and wants nothing more than to be petted and loved on. He was just a possible riding or companion horse when I got him almost two years ago, but he's turned into a really versatile guy. Streak has been in parades, he runs barrels, he's done western pleasure and showmanship classes, and he was a rodeo queen's flag carrying horse at URA Finals last fall. I've also taught riding lessons on him and my brother & sister-in-law have let their nieces and nephews ride him around the yard a lot. Even if he never improves out of the 4D as a barrel horse, I'm having a ton of fun riding him and I know I can count on him to try anything anytime.
Clifford - He's a fruit loop and definitely not for the faint of heart, but I'm hopelessly in love with his athleticism. He is also a real sweetheart at home. We have had our ups and downs over the past three years, yet I still believe we are going to get things put together on a consistent basis and then he will be a force to be reckoned with. I also love his ability to stand up on any type of ground and the fact that he never gives up. One thing about Clifford - he always goes for first!!!
Chance - He has turned into Mr. Consistent the past couple years and that makes hauling him a ton of fun. Maybe his best trait is the way he sucks up the first barrel every run. I love being able to send him full speed from the back of the alley or holding pen without worrying about him turning a good first. I also love that he's broke enough I can ride him around before a rodeo bareback in a light hackamore while ponying one or two other horses. Half the time at home, I don't bother saddling him for light workouts because I can ride him bareback and save some time.
Joker - He's been Old Faithful for years, but the last year or two I've really cherished the runs we get to make. At the age of 22, he's still running in the 2D at local jackpots & he was just a bit out of 3D money the one day I ran him at the Topeka Barrel Bash. I love his toughness and the way he's stayed sound for so many years, plus he's 100% automatic on the pattern. It's so relaxing to hop on him and run down the alley because I know he's going to work every time.

| I love his goofiness, he thinks he's giant dog. I love on the pattern that he can make a smokin run, then walks out of the arena like it's no big deal, drops his head and looks at me like "What's next mom?!" He is so sweet, and likes to follow me around, I don't even need a halter, it doesn't matter where we are, he's always right behind me and sticks his nose through the halter any day, and basically bridles himself, I never even tie him! Love him to death! <3 |

Location: on my horse | I LOVE so much about my mare that it makes me almost burst. Every time I look at her my heart just fills up. I bought her after my previous horse terrified me and to say the least she's been a gift from God, she's sweet as sugar and tries her heart out for me with everything that we do. She's so kind hearted and gentle and also kind of shy, she doesn't like to be mauled by strangers but if you hang out or she knows you well she comes up for quiet kisses and hugs and loves to hang out just inside your bubble. She's my best friend and my rock. She's my precious princess! Her name is Ms. Kitty, I think Roxie may have come up with the name? can't remember! She's also turning into an amazing little barrel horse. She's literally my dream come true.
The other pics of the red gelding is Gunner, he's the one who has put my confidence and heart back to gather more times than I can count all through high school, college, and the beginning of adult life. He's my mom's but my relationship with him is more precious than I have words for.

Location: MD | I'm not going to go through the whole string, as most are just passing through, or are "lifers" that I keep going for their owners. The Paint mare is mine till the end though. I just adore her quirky personality. She is one of the most intense, impulsive and yet completely ADD riddled animals that I have ever encountered. She does absolutely everything as though it is her job. She's about the nosiest animal that I have ever seen. She is always looking at something. We jokingly say that if she could talk, she would come out of the pen after laying down a huge run and be like "Ohmigosh! Did you see the kid in the third row of bleachers behind the second barrel> He had a red balloon and was wearing a blue shirt. He was soooo cute! Surely, you had to have seen him!". She just goes a mile a minute in everything that she does. Definitely head boss lady on our property. If she gives a horse a look, be it in the field, while tied to the trailer, wherever, the shenanigans come to an end.... and hers' then start up. All of her enthusiasm for life is on full display in everything that she does. She's obnoxious, has no boundaries and looks at you as if to say "Yes, I know. What are you going to do about it?". Essentially, she is me in equine form. |

Location: North Dakota | What I love about Red is his personality. He wears all his emotion on his face, and it's just comical to me. He tries to cop an attitude sometimes and pretend to be all tough but deep down, he's a wuss about it and gives in. He absolutely loves to run. He's like a kid in a candy shop when I breeze him, or when we are working our way into the alley. He can't wait to get in there.
I also love that's he's so versitile. I can do ANYTHING with this horse. Carry flag, push cattle, run barrels, do a reining pattern, showmanship, parades, etc. Doesn't phase him.

What I love about my colt Shotgun, is that he is so easy going and nothing bothers him. Even though he's young, he's like my "old dependable". And he has such a big stride. I just love riding him. He's picking up on the barrels pretty naturally, even though he still doesn't know what's going on. He's just so friendly and always wants to be around you and see what you are doing. I think he's going to make me a wonderful kids horse (or husband horse); yet still be good enough for me to be competitive on too.

| I love that my main mare (the one in my pic) can FLY with me at 17.00 and then if I put my stepdaughter on her she high lopes. With my infant son she plods along and acts like a nag so I can lead him around. She would walk through fire for me if I asked her to. I have been offered lots of $$ for her, but to me she is priceless. |

Location: KS | I can't think of one thing that I dislike about my mare. She has a huge heart, lots of try, honest as can be, almost anyone can ride her, her personality is unique, her looks, and I love how she takes care of me. I couldn't ask for a better horse.

Location: Somewhere around here | Glad to see everyone liking this post and talking about their horses!! Who doesn't love talking about their horses though, come on?
Since I just posted about only one horse earlier to get this started I'll mention my husbands horse (who I took over summer 1014).
What I love about Red is that he is a gritty sun of a gun. Loves working with cattle and seemed to love working barrels too when I was riding him. He's definitely a no nonsense guy and has a "Clint Eastwood" type of personality lol!
But gosh, the only thing that I don't like about him is that you can't trust him, or at least not for a while. He will buck you off if you haven't ridden him in a while but once you get a few rides in he's as good as gold!

| My mare- talk about ornery, I swear she understands exactly what I say... And then does the opposite!! She has moody mare days when I could send her on down the road and then has the sweetest horse ever days when I think how in the world could I have even thought of selling her!! Ah, and she loves her treats, she's like scooby and his Scooby snacks !! I just love her- most of the time LOL!! (I love her personality!!)

Location: MN | OHH, where do i begin with my guy. He first of all was a rescue, came to me skin and bones. Full of worms as a long 2 year old. Ive done all the training myself, from the ground up. This boy has a heart of gold. At 8 years old now, he can go in and smoke a pattern and run right with the tough horses up here in MN. You and turn around and throw a kid on him, and will walk or go whatever speed you ask of him. Totally willing. I get him and he gets me. Tried selling him once when he was younger and didnt know what a superstar he was going to be and bucked the guy off. The only time he has EVER bucked! I think he was telling me something... He thrives off of people attention and is the first to greet you in the pasture. I LOVE EVERYTHING about him. His only quirk is you have to stretch his belly muscles before you make a run or he is as rough as could be! haha.

| I've had my horse since 2006, when I was 14. My family was going through a very difficult time that year and he was the best thing that could have happened to me then. He's my buddy. He a sweetheart and has gotten me through a lot of hard times. |

I also LOVE my horses for each of their personalities, for how much they have taught me (inside and out of the arena). I love that I have met MANY amazing people since I started barrel racing and my horses helped me do that! |

| There are far too many to list!
The buckskin mare is a total diva. She tolerates everyone, but for some reason, she adores me. I love the bond we have, and she will never ever leave me. The grey mare has an insane work ethic, and an absolute heart of gold. She's so sweet and very very tolerant. The broodmares both have awful backstories, but are more than content to be turned out to have babies, with the occasional dose of cookies and love. The 2 yr old is a wild animal. 16 hh of attitude packed into 14 hh of power pony! The Streaking Ta Fame yearling is the absolute biggest sweet heart. She runs to meet you at the gate, loves to be loved on, but has a strong personality to back it all up. |

Location: Minnesota | Vinny. I don't think I could put into words, or enough words, how much this horse saved me. He had a rough past. Not trusting, hot, scared, pushy. You name it and he had it. He was pushed aside, thrown away. He was labeled dangerous. He needed someone to give him a chance and I needed someone in my life to love and someone to love me and that is what Vinny is to me. I give him the world and in return he keeps me safe and give me all that he has. He's not perfect. He's rough around the edges but I couldn't ask for a better horse to have by my side. I ask him to try and he tries.

| Looking back at the circumstances, my gelding was definately a gift from God.
He's put up with me through my learning and mistakes.
He's solid at barrel races at a 7 year old, don't have to lope him down, exibition which helps when hauling children with me.
He reads me and I feel I can read him. I feel we communicate just through looking at each other.
He's a miracle to be alive after an incident this summer, so again God showing Himself to me through this horse. |

Location: North of where I want to be | LeDoux...I bought him as a completely unstarted late 5 yr old. And after our first year together I was certain I was selling him as nothing more than a great trail horse. He did something in the 2nd year I owned him that sealed his fate. He won over my non horse daughter and decided he can run an likes to. He remembers EVERYTHING, he is lazy when he feels he can get away with it, he is smart and has a great snse of humor.Example...my daughter wanted to take him over cross rails(which he has done before) he trotted right up to them stopped, looked back at her & then promptly nudged the ends to knock them down and proceeded to trot over them.
CJ(Fast Corona Jet) I fell in love with this horse's athleticism and will to please.....I bought him from a trainer friend of mine. I figured if he could haul his 6'4" 260# butt around a set of cans and be in the 2d he could dang sure do it with 100# less on his back. Its been a LONG road. Little did I know just how much I'd need to fix to get him and I on the same page....my friend & I simply do not ride the same way. It took a lot of vet & chiro work to figure out what the pain issue causing him to buck was and in that time I learned he will work himself to the dirt for me even in pain. He thinks he is a lap dog and tends to channel a dressage horse once in a while. I was told the No Mas Corona horses are cold backed, I think they are a little misunderstood and I wish I could find a full sister to this boy because this kind of grit in a gelding would be amazing in a mare. |

| Hollywood: I love how much this horse has taught me. He tolerates all my inconsistencies, and gives me whatever I ask of him. I can ask him to do something new and he will try to figure it out. Very smart, and has such a great mind. Plus, he is fancy looking. Who doesn't like a 15.2 big black gelding?

Monster: Our 4 year old colt, I love his personality. Very quiet, and although he is young you could seriously put a beginner on him and he would not make a wrong move.

Hank: Used to be terrified of everything, I love how forgiving he is, and how much try he now has. Poor guy went through 5 homes in a year before we got him.

Boo: I love how she is the first one at the gate, and LOVES to be worked with.

| I LOVE that I can yank him up out of the pasture if he hasnt been ridden and he will be a perfect gentleman. He doesnt mind my crying toddler, or her stroller. I love that he doesnt require any special maintenance, has no alley issues, is easy and fun to ride, wants to please, is quiet and calm and doubles as a good rope horse. He fits me like a glove, doesnt require a lot of tuning, takes me to the pay window, and best of all I got him DIRT CHEAP when he was a youngster. I LOVE that he is MINE :)
