After over 4 years on a double lung transplant list my mother in law is getting her transplant right now. Her husband died 4 years ago, my mother and stepdad died earlier this year. We need lots of good vibes and any prayers that can be spared right now because we can not deal with anymore tragedy. Sunday is my mother in law's birthday so we are hoping that her being able to breathe is a amazing early birthday and Christmas present.

Thank y'all so much for the prayers. The transplant went wonderfully and was completed around 10:30 Friday night. The surgeon came out and updated us at midnight. Surgeon said everything went perfect and the lungs were working great.
Today is her birthday and they are starting to wean her off the ventilator. They have her off her sedation meds but have her on lots of pain meds which are keeping her pretty well knocked out. She is breathing on her own through the vent but gets tired quickly and her heart rate will go up so they let the vent breathe for her again to relax. They are hoping by the end of the day they will be ready to take the tube out. Not completely out of the woods but so far so good!! Thank y'all for the good vibes!!

Thank you so much for the outpouring of support, birthday and Christmas wishes! We appreciate it so very much!
They were able to remove her from the ventilator yesterday afternoon. She has been breathing on her own with her new lungs all night!!! The pain has been pretty much her worst battle now, they have stopped her morphine and are only giving her norco (per my husband) now. She says her pain level is at a 4 at all times. This morning she was able to get out of bed and sit in the chair in her room. Sounds like today they will try to remove the chest tubes and the other unnecessary tubes/lines from her.
Still have a long way but we are so thankful that everything is going as well as it is. Our kids can't wait until the day she can play catch and go for walks around the block lol. She used to get winded just walking a few steps, sometimes it was bad enough she could never catch her breath just sitting on the couch. Our family is celebrating every little victory for her while another is mourning the loss of their daughter, please keep the donor family in your prayers too. They are the reason we can rejoice for our Christmas miracle and the fact that she has a second chance at life!
