Location: Where Governor's make the liscense plates | I bought the ireliev tens unit for people to use on my guys face for the paralysis but it won't work on him. Works perfect on me of course. Are there any made for animals? I've tried googling and found nothing. |

| Yes- equi-stim leg saver: http://www.equi-stimlegsaver.com And Best-Vet, Micro-Plus: www.therapyproducts.net. There are others too- like Acuscope/Myopulse, Precision, and Mens Miva - those are just off the top of my head.... Most TENS units for humans are too strong to be tolerated by horses- |

So far everything although they look great they're $4500+ which is wayyyy too much for me to spend. My vet said to try the icy hot tens unit that Shaquille O'Neal advertises. I went and got a better one but it won't work on the horse. So I'm thinking this cheaper icy hot version won't either? |

| The Best-Vet's sell for around $1200-$1400 and the Micro-Plus is around $110- last I checked they were still trying to sell Acuscopes for around $15,000-$20,000. Yes you are right, the icy hot tens unit isn't going to work on your horses- they have a way different tolerance to electricity than humans do. Human TENS units work in milli-amp range, which is too strong for horses, the equine units work in the micro-amp range. Just google "microcurrent for horses" and you will find plenty of information! :) |

I left a message with the people that have micro plus. Looks very promising and in my price range. Thanks for the suggestion- I'm looking forward to talking to the owners so they can get me in the right direction with the right machine |

| Sounds like you have found Deborah Powell with Matrix Therapy (it is her site that has the micro plus, best vet, etc). She is certainly the expert and will help you find unit and protocol to help your horse. I personally know one horse who made amazing recovery from facial paralysis with MCT (microcurrent therapy).
the TENS are typically used for pain management and it is said will cause damage to cells while microcurrent delivered in micro amps similar to the level nautrally occuring within the body supports healing at the cellular level by restoring electrical change and subsequently increasing blood flow, cellular regeneration and all the good associated with such. It is such a cool therapy option I have yet to understand why it is not more mainstream. Deborah Powell also has a book called Microcurrent for Horses which is a great read and very informative if you want to learn more about the various devices for horses, ailments they treat and treatment protocol. I have just started treating my own and have seen first hand success so for with stifles and an abcess. I know others who are using this modality and have treated ulcers, soft tissue injury, fractures and hemotomas just to name a few. Hope this helps! Good luck!

| Yes I am referring to Matrix Therapy! You are right about all that you have said- and Deborah has some great educational articles about microcurrent and other equine therapies on her website: www.therapyproducts.net. She has been in the business of healing horses for many years now, but has never pushed her products like others have and does most of her business through word of mouth. I know when I "found" her 8 years ago I couldn't believe how unknown she was with us therapy junkie barrel racers- lol! I am so happy to see she is finally getting the recognition that she deserves! :) |
