I used to use horseprerace. I switched to my vet.
How do you know what is actually IN what you are getting from Horseprerace and that its safe. Guess I am just paranoid.
I felt just like you!!! It took me s long time to try them. Here is a little confession: At the time I first ordered I tried it on an old gelding well into his late 20s . I used it on him first. Not to see if it made him feel better but to see if he would drop dead before trying it on my good horses. Not even going to lie. lol And he loved it . Have used it on everything since!

LOL. I hate the fact that I have to second guess....I suppose that's my main issue. The stuff I got from my vet you have to inject in the vein and I'm OVER IT. I have to rely on him to come out on time because I'm not anywhere near comfortable doing it myself. I was under the impression it was IM when he sold not to me but it wasn't.

Pentosan is always IM. I have ordered pentosan platinum from prerace and it is IV. If its plain ol pentosan it should go in the muscle. Interesting!

I have myself been worried about ordering from HPR because technically, they are not operating legally... which makes me wonder about their QC/QA procedures and possible "bad" lots of product. Giving a shot IM can be very unfortunate if you have contaminated product. I prefer not to take the risk on injectibles, spend a little more, and know that this is coming from a liscenced pharmacy. Technically, in the US you should need an Rx to order pentosan, dex, or a number of other items being sold on HPR.

I get mine from wedge wood BUT I have an amazing vet (ok he's my cousin) that calls my prescription in for me. Also horse prerace is probably going to have protocol to not kill your horse-since that is how they make money. IMO a compounding pharmacy like wedgewood has a higher standard to follow than horse prerace And Pentosan is cheaper through them directly than horse prerace-if you can get your vet to call in the prescription

How much does Pentosan run through Wedgewood? I've looked online but seems like you have to have a script before it tells prices.
