They got him on camera. Walking through the barn and shining a flashlight in to every stall looking at the horses. He tripped the laser alarm and the alarm scared him off.
So I bet there is two or three of them waiting in the nearby pasture and they send in one guy to pick a horse and bring it to them in the pasture.... These people are completely off their rockers!!!  |

By profit do you mean selling the meat to migrant families?
Won't it make the people who eat it sick?
I would imagine show horses have lots of supplements and medications to keep them healthy and sound. Much like barrel horses... I can't imagine people eating the meat and everyone being ok.... |

That's what I read too on the original story. The horse was killed, skinned, and basically carved up for its meat. I think that's why the guy they caught on camera was looking into the stalls trying to find the biggest horses....
I wonder if they're selling it black market in the U.S. or taking it south to Brazil or Mexico....
Either way, this needs to be addressed and quickly... It's still sick and gruesome to kill a horse that is perfectly healthy and very sound and sane for it's meat... |

Countries like, S. Korea, Poland, Columbia, France, Australia, Indonesia, the Philippines, Uruguay, Mexico, Argentina, Kazakhstan, Russia, Kyrgystan, Brazil, and many more consume horse meat.
Slovenia even has a fast food chain that sells a horse burger, called Hot Horse...

I've done research... Lots when i'm bored. I'm not completely against it and I'm not completely for it. I'm neutral I would think...
I understand they are consumed but I guarantee they aren't show horses.... Or medicated horses... Or horses that are healthy and sound and rideable... If they are then I have a problem with that...
I mean, I'm sure there are standards... Just like with cattle the USDA has Beef Standards, living condition standards, and processing standards.... Given some of those are completely over looked and not every cow that is butchered is killed humanely I'm sure but at least there are standards to hold them accountable instead of people gruesomely butchering them in fields for the black market....  |

I totally agree and don't you remember last year someone from BHW posting her pet goats had been stolen for food and a lady down the road from her lost 15 goats. Goats are a favorite food for illegals crossing our border. Easily caught and easily butchered.

It has gotten worse since illegals have flooded here..I will say I dont think they sell for 20 bucks a lb out of the trucks siince it goes to poor areas as well from what I understand.. i had a man I thought was legal living in my barn apt in wellington (Palm beach) where there are plentiful of illegals.. I dint check papers because he did side work for a trainer down the road. he did stalls, fed, turned out and did a good job . But there was a ration of car burgeries in my area and I noticed he was coming home at 3 am or 4 am . Not off topic at all Bibs. I guess it seems so Taboo for a person to even consider doing anything like that because we were all raised differently.
I remember my daddy praying a quick whispered prayer before he shot anything we were about to eat. Thanking God for the meat and praying that the shot took them quickly with no pain/fear and that nothing was wrong with the meat so it wouldn't be wasted. That's how I was raised... You never shot anything for fun, you never shot anything you wouldn't eat, and you never shot anything for profit...  |

| I do not know how many Muslims are in the area but in order for their meat to be Halal meat and fit for them to eat according to their religious beliefs, the animal must not already be dead when the animals throat is slit and the animal must be facing Northeast (I think) when it is killed. I know someone who sells them a lot of young sheep and they slaughter on his property.
The point being, they are following their religious principles and see no perversion in their slaughtering practices. I am not condoning it, it is, however, what they believe. Now stealing someone else's animal is a whole 'nother matter. Apparently that is not against these particular thieves' beliefs. I guess if you steal from an infidel it is not stealing eh? |

I hope you didn't think that I was defending them! Just pointing out that due to religious and cultural differences, you'll be hard pressed to convince those committing these offenses that they are doing anything wrong.
We will continue to see this sort of thing happen against animal AND human unless we stem the tide of illegal immigrants into this country, with no controls and answerable to no one, and the current atmosphere of political correctness tat says we must hold these illegals own culture above our own does nothing but contribute to the problem. I think, if I'm interpreting your posts correctly, that you're correct in that us slapping them on the wrist and saying no no bad don't do this, they won't understand why it's bad and repeat offend. Kind of like what Bibs was saying: they were raised differently and I will add in, Savagely... As far as agreeding with their beliefs and practices, I do not at all agree with their beliefs and stand by my own wholeheartedly.
On an OT note Everyone is allowed to believe what they believe unless you are a single, white, middle class Christain American with a gun in the South.... At that point, according to our government, you have no rights to believe or express your beliefs in anything at any point in time  .... |

Location: Midwest | I don't think Muslims, in general, eat horse meat. Lots of lamb and chicken, and they Halaal is about the butchering and preparation (like Kosher). Muslims don't eat pork. I'm not sure if they eat beef or not.
Eating horse meat is huge in latin and spanish culture. In spain, they prep it as a street food.
I'm not averse to comsupmtion, but I think it is sick that people are stealing pets. However, it happens everyday. This is a really profitable crime. Cats and dogs are also being stolen now and sold or "rehomed" on craigslist.
Very sad that these people lost their animals. I am thankful that is not a problem in my area. |

Hang on to your hats. Since Obama has made nice with Cuba thousands of Cuban immigrants are headed this way who have been on hold in Central American trying to get here. I predicted this.
