Location: Where we're waiting for spring! | I know the Saddle Right Pads have been around forever, but I've never had one. They came across my radar again recently and I was wondering what those that have used them thought of them? How thick are these pads? Any opinions good or bad would be appreciated! |

| I've had mine a little over a year now. I like it better than the Impact Gel pad (horse kicked out and bucked). I've had a CSI (loved it) but it was too thick with my Crown C- I traded my Five Star 3/4 inch for a half inch to use on the Crown C but haven't used it enough to see how my horses like it. I think the SRs are all the same thickness, half inch, but could be wrong. My saddle doesn't roll with the SR and I don't have to cinch the saddle up tight- it did roll with the 3/4 inch Five Star and my mare has decent withers. |

Location: MI | We have 5 Saddlerights, 3 Tod Slones that are a 1" thick, 2 5Star's, a Wade, 2 Impact Gel, one air ride, and a couple of other various pads. Without a doubt our Saddlerights are our favorites by far. We can feel the horses, they dont slip and roll, horses dont get sore, I could go on and on. I try and watch Ebay and whenever a Saddleright comes on that is reasonably priced I try and snatch them up and then send back to Saddleright and get it replaced with a new one. |

Do they have a guarantee on the pads and replace them for free? What is a good price to find a used one for? |

Location: 100 miles from Nowhere, AR | I bought my Saddleright in 1998 and it still looks great. The insides never wear out and if you use a liner the outside doesn't wear out either. Definitely my go-to pad. They have a recovering program that works like a trade-in. Last I knew it was about $90, but may have gone up.
Some colors fade or stain easier than others. Mine is black. |

I have had 4 Saddlerights over 15 years. They are the only pad I use. I've tried others, but don't like them nearly as well. The Saddlerights fit great and last forever. Just love them.

Location: The Great Northwest | I have had a lot of different pads. I now have the SaddleRight's again! They are the best. They have a guarantee in workmanship and do replace. I thought they're to hard and heavy. The pad does conform has good shock absorbtion and lasts forever.

| anyone use these with a caldwell saddle? I went ahead and bought both a 7/8" and a 1" thick 5 star since Charon at Caldwell suggests a thick pad with her saddles. However, my 1" fits ok doesn't pinch my horse but will roll if not cinched up tight enough. I have a saddleright from my old double J was wondering if it would be too thin to use. Anyone? |

No, just 1/2". I adjust thickness with what I use as a liner. |

Location: SW North Dakota | SRs are the only pad we use on our rodeo and ranch horses- they are simple for my kids (cut out withers and no wrinkling) and IMO provide the best in shock absorption. I have tried other brands and try to stay open minded, but I go back to my SRs for their protection, durability and ease of use. They come in one thickness. They may seem thin, but their "bar" really protect their backs. I think their "trade-in" guarantee is now $150. I had one SR pad that was 20 years old and still in good shape, but the wear leathers had worn really thin under the cinch area. My husband does all his cow work from the back of a horse, and at weaning time we ride 10+ hours per day and our horses aren't back sore. That said, our saddles fit well and IMO, no pad in the world will make a bad-fitting saddle work for that kind of riding... I'm a big fan of the SR pads!! |

Location: North Dakota | For anyone with Facebook, The Truth Tack Review page has a video someone submitted of them doing a shock absorbancy test comparing a new 5 Star and an OLD Saddleright. The saddleright absolutely blew the 5 star out of the water. I was very impressed. |

I saw that too. Was hoping they'd do the same think with CSI and SR. |

The pad is probably too thick if you have to cinch tight to keep saddle from rolling. You should check with the pad under the saddle to see how tight in the shoulders it may be. The scapulas need room to move without pinching. |

Location: Texas | I am a saddleright pad dealer and would be happy to answer your questions about these great pads! Yes they still offer the recover program. It cost $150 plus your old pad to get a new one! GUARANTEED to NEVER pack down. Many styles to choose from. Custom made in any size.

Question. If you do the recover program, can you have the new pad done in a different color/style than the old one?
And for the OP-I used my saddleright for the first time yesterday and it was wonderful. Cash didn't swish his tail while I tightened his cinch (which he *always* does). He moved more freely than ever, which is something we've been struggling with especially to the right. It really seemed to free up his back and shoulders in a way his 3/4" felt pad definitely did not. I also found sitting the trot was more comfortable. Some people have mentioned Meleta Brown saddles and Saddlerights don't always work well together but so far it's a perfect combination. The pad isn't too thick and really absorbs shock and free's up Cash. The profile for the withers is also amazing. For the first time EVER we finished a ride without a pad sliding down and pressing on his withers.

You can get a different, color, shape, size and everything..... a whole completely different looking if you wanted to!
PS.... I used a saddleright pad with my meleta for about 4 years or more. It worked great for my horse.

Sweet! In the event this one wears out I want a pretty turquoise one :) but yeah I'm VERY happy with this saddle pad combo. It may not work for some but it's definitely working for us!!! |

It didn't work well for my Caldwell saddle. I used a 5 Star one one horse and the CorrecTOR for the other. |
