How would you go about doing this? My gelding is afraid everything is going to kill him, while he's come along ways.....I don't want to just throw him in a rodeo and expect him to just handle it. So how do you introduce your young ones into the atmosphere? Tips?

I usually haul mine with me and just ride them around, grand entry, track cattle out, etc. Sometimes hubby will flag off of them.

I also haul mine along with me before I plan on running them. I'll ride in the arena before the rodeo, use them in the grand entry if they're handling the pre-rodeo atmosphere, and eventually carry flags on them when needed. It always helps to haul a seasoned horse with a newbie so they feed off the other horse's confidence.

We would chase cattle out of the arena if you are unsure of how he will react really ride him down before taking him in, after they are comfortable with this we enter them in slack and then slowly move them into the perfs....the ones with less commotion.
