Are there any brands/producers to stay away from? Where do y'all get your beet pulp? I am more interested in feeding shreds than pellets (I think).

I buy mine from Tarwaters in topeka, it's $14 a bag I think? But man it will last one horse forever.

I buy the Standlee brand from TSC. There are some inconsistencies, such as some bags have bigger shreds than others, but since I soak them, I don't worry about it. I like that they don't add molasses to them like my local feed store does.

I buy from tractor supply. Can't recall the name but it's a green bag. I prefer the shreds as they soak easier. Soaked best pulp is great for pushing sand thru and carrying water to the gut. I've only ever gotten one bad bag in the past several years and they gladly exchanged.

I feed Standlee as well and like the quality of the pellets and shreds. I've had some that were really dusty, but I don't see that as much with Standlee.

Another vote for Standlee. I actually prefer their pellets though. Easier to scoop and measure. They do take a little longer to soak but that's never been an issue for me.

Standlee brand....shreds....TSC or Orscheln....like someone else said, there isn't any molasses in this brand....the shreds/bags you get from the feed stores, etc. almost always contain molasses which I do not want to feed my horses.

I use Midwest Agra (shreds). My feed store carries this brand. 40 pounds for about $13.00

I currently use Standlee from TSC...I agree with everything already stated. I have also fed Speedi-Beet (it only had to soak for 10 minutes in cold water, 5 in hot), they have the consistency of couscous. My favorite ever was ground beet pulp from Alaska Mill and Feed...it was like horse oatmeal and took only a few minutes to soak.
