Hi. I'm looking for some advice on how the Martinew Crown C's fit. I've heard they have some rock to the tree? ANY help would be greatly appreciated!
Looking to fit my gelding who needs a wider gullet the my current double j pro (6 3/4") and has some rock to his back (attached photo for reference of his shape to hopefully help)
Thanks!

Message Cheryl Makofka - she helped me out a lot on fitting my Martins. I bought a flat tree (after her recommendation and talking to Brian at Martin) in the most recent saddle because the regular tree with the wide gullet had too much rock. The flat tree fits perfectly!!

Great! Thank you. My guy definitely needs the rock to the bars as his dips behind his withers. I'll figure out how to get ahold of Cheryl so hopefully she can guide me in a better direction! Thanks again!

Ok, I'm just starting to look for a crown C.  Flat?  I'm behind.  Any additional information would be great.  I've got a good size boy.  My Marlene eddleman flex fits ok but not perfect.  I tried a pozzi wide fit and it hiked up in the back.  Which tree would you look for?

Most horses will do fine in a regular tree, but if your horse is super flat backed with very little withers he might do better in a flat tree. If the wide tree saddle you tried kicked up in the back it was either too wide for your horse or your horse has some atrophy behind the shoulders and would need to be shimmed there until he fills back out. Call Martin or send them a message on their website before you buy one and they can help you out with properly fitting your horse to what he needs.

I just noticed that you are in Oklahoma so it might be worth the trip to go to National Saddlery in OKC to have them fit your horse. Or you could drive down to Greenville, TX to let Brian and the people at Martin fit him. It's definitely worth the trouble to make sure you've got the right fit.

Saddle fit is always watched at any age.  There backs change with fitness and age.

You would need to have a tree fitted or try a lot of saddles.

Oh I totally understand that. I am just saying that it's not like he's a growing youngster.
