| We're going to the roundup this year, and hotel rooms seem to be a bit scarce. Has anyone stayed at the Motel 6? How bad or good is it? We're finding that it's about all that's available. Any and all thoughts and opinions are welcome. |

Location: Stephenville, TX | If you find an available hotel room in Pendleton, take it! Doesn't matter where it's at, it beats tenting it in the park LOL! I've had to stay as far out as Milton-Freewater and Walla Walla before. |

Location: Always on call..... | We went in 2014 but I booked rooms WAY in advance at the Holiday Inn. Plus we were there Sunday night through Thurs AM. I think that makes a difference. Went to slack all day Mon & Tues. (Hubby and I rope so we loved watching all the roping slack, since Pendleton has an all around a lot of the roughies enter the roping events. That was fun to watch.) Then rodeo perfs Wed & Thurs. Headed out after Thursday's rodeo. Granted we didn't see the short round, but it was not crowded in Pendleton until Thursday. It was really nice to hang out there and explore Pendleton without a lot of people around. That's what I would advise. And you get to see all the barrel racing slack! |

| If you can get a room, just buy it now. Rooms can be scarce and like another said, tenting is always an option!
When my best pal and I went in high school (multiple years in a row), we usually stayed with a cousin in Walla Walla. From what I know, the Motel 6 isn't horrid. It is not a top of the line establishment but an average Motel 6. But as I said, rooms are scarce so grab one if its in your budget! |

edited to add: Make your reservations there now but keep checking the others because they could get cancellations through the next few months.

| Hey, great info. We have already booked a hotel 40 miles away, but I'm guessing that's an hour's drive or more. We're just spending a few days there and I think I could stand anything for a night or 2 with some of the things I've stayed in over the years.
Anybody else have any thoughts I'm open to it. |

Location: 31 lengths farms | Not sure you can get in, but you might check to see if Neigh-bors Horse Motel is booked yet. Cute little apartment over the barn right up the hill from the Round-up grounds.
Adorable, full kitchen, nice size bedroom, full bathroom. Cute, clean and safe!

May I ask what town you booked your room in? I will say that it is crowded in Pendleton but the freeway is a quick way to get there and doesn't get crowded so it's a quick trip. |

| Great, it's in Walla Walla, I think about 40miles. And that was my concern, were we talking a freeway where you can drive 70 or was it a state road were we might averge about 50....Can you help? |

Location: Idaho | Highway, about 55 mph, but it's really a pretty quick, easy drive. Perfs are at 1:00 or so anyway, so you don't have to leave early or get back late. The Motel 6 in Pendleton isn't bad. |

Location: Texas | Our first trip to Pendleton, we stayed at an old hotel downtown. I don't remember it being that bad but we were only there to shower and sleep. I guess if you have slept in horse trailers enough you can pretty much sleep anywhere. There is all kinds of stuff going on at night downtown and some really neat old bars. The next time my brother-in-law found a guy that let us park and plug-in his motorhome at his business just a little ways out of town. It was a lot quieter than staying in town but I kind of missed the night life. We loved Pendleton and would go back in a heart beat no matter where I had to stay. |

That's highway so 55 mph I think. Hermiston or even LA Grande are along the freeway and 65 mph speed limits. I haven't drove that highway in a long time. I'm north of Hermiston so know those roads well. It's a pretty quick drive from Hermiston to Pendleton. |

Location: horseback looking for cows | Try contacting the Pendleton Chamber of Commerce. They have a list of families who rent out rooms in there home and there complete homes during round up also. Motel 6 is ok if you can get a room.... Good luck! |

Location: SW Washington | A friend of mine rented a house through the chamber...was a great deal. The owner left her & her friends a half gallon of Pendleton LOL
I've stayed at motel 6. Crazy what they charge during the rodeo...but split between 8 or so of us...wasn't bad. |

I've had to sleep in my truck a couple times on Court Ave across from the park and...yikes. I'd rather be tucked safely behind some solid walls LOL!

| Well, we've found a couple of backup spots that we've booked, with cancellation dates close to the date the rodeo starts, so options are open for now. My friend has been on this, and she got some suggestions from the Chamber. I'm looking forward to it, we're spending a few days in Pendleton and spending some time at Mt Hood. |
