I need some Do's & Do Not's for my new colts nutrition. What kind of grain, hay, supplements, ect? Can I give him to Much of something? What is the ideal body condition I see so many with the big gut that's fine right? I mean I have always has horses just not babies lol. I've never raised one before so Im pretty clueless so any and all advice is appreciated. I was recently given a really nicely built and well bred Stud colt because he is losing an eye. He will be a year old in march. He seems to be adapting well and has a great temperament. I want to make sure Im doing what I can to make sure I'm giving him what he needs to get as big and healthy as possible.

Personally I feed Ultium Growth. A little pricey but well worth it. My colt is a beefcake on it. I'm feeding grass hay with it and he looks fantastic. 5 months in the picture below. Most of the time the big hay gut comes from ascarids. Be sure to have a good deworming program.
