Okay, so I saw a listing for a Stud on Facebook. They are stating he is out of a 3/4 sister to Babyflo. My question is... how is a horse a 3/4 sibling? I'm confused. Anyway I think about this there is no real 3/4 SISTER. Am I missing something super obvious?
Yea the horse is really nice, but I'm not a huge fan of the "3/4 Sister" term they used. I guess that can help with sales though. Just when I think of siblings I only thing of half or full. 3/4 just sounds funny. Lol.
THEOLDGRAYMARE gave an excellent example of 3/4 siblings ... siblings is your clue that they are by the same stallion with 1/2 sisters as the dams. ....
The way you would write or say this would be :
DTF WAY TA FIRE ...
Speaking it ...
By Chasin Firewater out of a daughter of Dash Ta Fame out of Berts Way O by Danjur Tb ...
Writing it ...
By Chasin Firewater x a daughter of Dash Ta Fame x Berts Way O by Danjur TB
and if you are long winded or a fast typer ... you can add the name of the daughter of Dash Ta Fame ...
(if you have an astute listener or buyer ... their next question would be: Does the horse have regular AQHA or appendix papers? (you mentioned TB)
Sister or brother are used when referring to same bloodlines in the dam.....
When you speak of 3/4 sister or brother
You are saying that they are out of the same mare
and their sires have same sire but different dams
When you speak of 3/4 sister or brother by blood ..
You are saying their dams are full sisters
and their sires have same sire but different dams
I thought everyone would get a good laugh
out of this from a sneaky PM I received ..
Proper bloodline/relations ... PM AND ANSWER BELOW .. lol

PM I RECEIVED >>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>
I was following the 3/4 sibling.
I have 2 horses not sure how to describe their relation so hoping you can give me the proper terminology.
Both horses are by the same stud, and out of full sisters
What does this make them? As they really aren't sisters,
Thanks Cheryl

MY ANSWER TO THE PM >>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>
I would have to see an allbreed link on both horses to make sure I am understanding you correctly ...
If they aren't sisters then I would say you have two full brothers that are geldings .. lol
