I'm looking for a small living quarters trailer (preferably a 6' LQ), and found a new Exiss that I like the floor plan on.
I am a weekend warrior and don't have plans to travel hard - been there, done that and don't have the time to do that any more.
I realize they are not the quality of an Elite, Platinum, etc. but I really don't want to buy an older trailer, and I can't justify spending $50,000 right now based on how much I go.
Anyone had a newer Exiss and what are your experiences?

I have a 2004 I have owned for a year. I realize how it was cared for plays a big part but it has held up nicely. Everything works.
I would say go look at it and then decide.
When we started looking in my price range of $25k, I first looked at a Bison. I thought how awesome to get a brand new LQ in my price range! The cabinets were cheap and flimsy and the finishes where cheesy IMO. That's when I decided to find an older nicer one.

Curious as well, looking at getting a new exiss stock combo with a Sierra conversions living quarters. For the money it's worth knowing how it was cared for etc since its new.

Their newer trailers are not well made. I've seen rear doors fall off while driving down the road. I personally wouldn't put a horse in one. Why not look at an older better made trailer?

I would check leakage.. There have been a few that leak at seams in LQ.. and a eventers horse has kicked the sides and foot went straight thru ..

We looked at a brand new Exiss stock combo LQ last year BECAUSE they come with a good warranty now. BUT I felt like the LQ, in the ones we looked at, was very low end and no way it would hold up with kids in it. Maybe if it was only a very clean, very gentle single person using it. JMO

We recently bought one and are happy with it so far. There are only 2 of us, adults and we don't haul hard. It fits our needs and budget. It is a stock combo with LQ and mid tack.

I have a 2006 4 horse with a smaller LQ (shower, toilet, dinette, fridge, stove) done by Harmon and also has a small slide out. Couldn't be more happy with it. No leakage problems, doors, latches, windows etc. are all in great condition when you take into account normal wear and tear. I have one divider I have to lift on about 1/2" to get it to latch, but that's about the only thing that isn't operating smoothly on it.

I purchased a 2010 in 2012.  It had a 8' LQ and was a great trailer.  No leaks anywhere.  I sold it a couple of years ago because I wasn't going as much and moved to an area that most of the barrel races are an hour or less from my house.  It was a great trailer for the price.

Edited to add mine is a 2015  Love mine, this is my second one. We outgrew the first one, and now have an 8' wide stock combo with a mid tack and 10' living quarter. No leaks and IF mine can kick through the sides of this trailer I'll sell the horse! Pulls great, and I usually have a friend travelling with me or my 5 yr old son, plenty of room.

Haven't had much luck finding a stock combo with an 8' short wall LQ in an older used model, although I continue to look.

I have a 2003 3 horse Exiss sport. Doesn't have a living Quarter package but we put our own installation in it. It's been a great trailer for the price, pulls really well. Sturdy too. The only issue is we did have some minor leakage but it was an easy fix. I really like how roomy the horse stalls are and we haven't had any issues with the latches on the doors. I don't know much about the newer trailers. We looked at one that had a nice layout that seemed to be in good condition.

Same here! We have been looking for a while now for a stock combo with 8ft and mid tack. They are really hard to find used.

I have had my Exiss for 2 years now. I would totally recommend buying one! I've never had a problem with mine and I travel across the country regularly with it! Its a 4 horse, mid tack, 10 ft weekender package. I couldn't afford the "fancy" trailers and this one was right in my price range! So glad I bought it and didn't listen to what people said about Exiss trailers.

I have a 2003 Exiss. It does not have LQ but it has a large dressing room. The seams on the sides of the roof DO leak. It's a matter that the caulking has cracked over the course of time. I didn't get around to doing a solid fix this year, but just did a quick fix before winter of putting more caulking over the existing stuff (Ideally, I want to grind out all the old stuff and put new stuff on). That should fix the problem.

I've also had a lot of electrical issues with mine. I think it's FINALLY working okay, but I've had to have the ground wire fixed multiple times. If it's hooked up to the pickup it's usually fine (b/c that acts as the ground) but if I try to have the trailer stand alone (hooked up electrical only), I've had a lot of issues. Not sure how much different the wiring is for a LQ.

I bought my trailer used a few years ago, from the owner (who had purchased it new). If I ever get a different trailer someday, I honestly probably won't get an Exiss.

I have a 2005; have had it for at least 5 years and love it.  I've heard all the bad stuff that people say about Exiss, but honestly, we haven't had any issues, but the people we bought it from kept good care of it and we keep good care of it.

Thanks all ?? If I could afford other brands I'd look at them, or if I could find quality used in my price range with what I want.

We have an exiss stock with a small dressing room up front that we love and haven't had any major issues with, just wanting more space. We want to stay with a stock combo as horses aren't all we haul and we like having fewer hinges etc to deal with - this past summer seemed to be the summer of broken drop down windows for a lot of my friends across many trailer brands.

I guess after a certain number of years depending on the climate the trailer is in expect to have to do maintenance like rechaulking seams on any brand.

I bought mine at Longhorn Trailer Sales in Mt. Pleasant, Tx   Right now they have a used 2004 4 Star stock combo with midtack and I think a 12' shortwall for $29,900.

I saw that one, I'm afraid it's far too long for my 3/4ton to keep steady. The 28 or 30 ft on the floor is about what we feel comfortable with.

Maybe the OP will see your post though, she's in tx too so might be very convienent too

I'm the OP and I'm looking for just a little bitty trailer - 2 horse with no more than a 7' shortwall.

I think you should get what you want.. we all have issues with differant trailers but honestly if your not hauling hard and take care of it you should get the new one your looking at imho.. least you have a warrenty and its all new.. the major things..

Just bought a 2015 Exiss 3 horse this summer with a large dressing room that I'm eventually going to be insulating and adding things to it. I haven't had any problems with it and I feel that it is built really sturdy but my back divider I do have to lift up on a little before it will slam shut. I think this could be from leaving it open sometimes when hauling instead of keeping it shut.
