I am shopping timers for a church. Every race I have ever gone to has always used farmtek timers- is there a reason for this? What makes farmtek better then "off brands" nearly half the price? I know you get what you pay for but the church is on a tight budget.

My friend has the FarmTek timers and when integrating them into various software systems they've had issues getting them to work. I have the ThunderPaws/RU Ready Timers and mine integrate much easier.
In terms of capabilities and comparison I haven't noticed a difference between the two. I'm only speaking in terms of barrel racing, I don't know how each set would compare for multiple timers for roping events and such.

I have used several different types. Farmtek is thebest and most reliable I think. Easy to use and set up, great for more than one event. They last for years. Never had any problem hooking into any software. They may cost a little more to start but last a lot longer with less maintence problems. Well worth the money.

I have used the thunderpaws timer for years with absolutely 0 problems and it can take a beating. For 450.00 you get the timer, tri pods, carrying case etc... works awesome.
