So I'm having a total brain fart this morning, and since I'm not super familiar with it anyways....can you pay a colt into a futurity association that is not out of an enrolled stallion? My colt is super nice, big, athletic, and I think could hold his own, but unfortunately isn't out of a running bred stallion so he missed being nominated. Not sure if this makes sense or not...working 3rd shift has my brain scrambled like eggs.
You can enter any futurity you want as long as he fits the age requirement, and has not been entered in any barrel race prior to dec.1 of his futurity year.
The horse's Sire does not have to be 3nrolled in any program. That just makes you eligible for the stallion incentives which pay out pretty well. Check the rules for each futurity for eligibility requirements.
