We need some volunteers.

Go to: www.BarrelDraw.com
and fill out the form like you were entered into the race given. Make up a draw number. That's it.

Barrel Draw sends alert text messages to your phone with the last draw number called so you won't miss a run. Draw Alerts start before the race. Your alerts stop after your draw number is called.

This is what we need.
General feedback, suggestions
Time delay
Text problems like truncation or split messages

About every 10 minutes, usually during a drag, a text message will go out to the next 20-30 contestants in line. The message will include the last draw number called, your draw number, and the time to beat.

Example alert
++++++++++++++++++++
Test Event
Cur Draw 38
Your Draw 76
Win 15.89

Enter “Stop” to Quit
Enter number to change draw
At any time you can Enter ? for a new update.

Thanks!!!!!

We will let you know how it goes.

50005000100252525
Race starts Wed at 10:30 AM CST.
Pick a draw number from 1 - 300, doesn't matter. Some alerts will go to all draw numbers while regular alerts only go to the next 20 in line. At any time reply with a question mark ? and you will receive the last alert. Once your draw number is past you no longer get alerts.
Some alerts will be a message with the current time.. We want to know what the delay is if it's more than a minute and what your phone service provider is.

Thanks for signing up.

I tried signing up twice for draw 237 with US Cellular, but I never received any type of opt in messages. I waited five minutes after my first attempt before tying again, but still nothing after second time.

Thanks to all that signed up. We have discovered two glitches. ATT customers are receiving text but the server is not receiving their replies. US Cellular customers are not receiving anything. We are working on it. That's what the test is for. I am going to opt in everyone and start the test soon.

Race is going well. Only the next 50 in line receive alerts. We are on draw #50 now. For those on ATT, you will receive alerts but any replies will not work at this time. US Cellular will not receive any alerts. We will be fixing that tonight.

Now I am going to speed up the race. Anyone that just landed here can still join the fun at http://BarrelDraw.com

This is seriously the coolest thing! I love the 'injury delay' text and the fact that you have the fast time in each text! LOVE IT! I put myself at draw# 49

ETA: I'm adding that I have trouble hearing and I'm too dang scared to go to the Dr. Being able to have an alert to my phone would make races SO much less stressful and I wouldn't have to mount my horse way to early and get him too tired. I really really hope this service works and it is adopted by many organizations! I really dread having to ask 30 + times in a day what draw are they on because I can't hear the loud speakers.

I got my info!

I think the page asked for feed back. I got one message, but it came through saying that it was 1 of 2 and 2 of 2, but the way it came through (the way it displayed on my phone) it looked like I was supposed to enter my draw number to continue. Took me a bit to realize it was saying message 2 of 2 because it came in as one message.

hey steve just a thought..... if im draw 123 and they are already up to draw 150 i sure would have liked a text as to what time i ran because after going 9-0 around three barrels im out of breath, trying to stop a fire breathing dragon and never heard a dang thing the annoucer said after "draw 123 lu......".  so if that is an option that it would text me my time after a run i want that!!!

Thanks again for all 60 of you that signed up.

I had to opt in all ATT and US Cell accounts manually. The program had a bug where manual opt-ins could not Stop or opt out - fixed.

ATT and US Cell accounts could not reply to the server, maybe some other smaller carriers as well - for this we have signed up to a professional text aggregation service. This will solve that two way communication problem and the messages should be immediate.

At a real barrel race the messages will go out during every drag or two. The stats person at the race will be the primary person to send the alerts. Only the next 50 numbers get the alerts.

We will be having another short test soon. You will see it here in the forum.

Also, I'm not sure if this is because it's in the testing stage, but would it be possible to make the texts all come from the same number? Mine came through with the same first few digits, but with each addition text, the last number changed. So, my phone didn't string them together in one conversation? It was only 3-4 today, but if this was really used in a show with 1500 entries, and someone ran 4 horses, that would be a lot of messages coming through that the phones interpret to be different sources.

If someone was at a huge race, running multiple horses, it may be difficult to keep track of the last known fastest time, which draw, etc.

I have T-Mobile and all of the texts came from seperate numbers (970-6, 370-0, 960-3,950-4,950-5, ect) and I was draw 127 and recieved draw 110 and then Im guessing it was "my turn" and recieved one more text after saying the winning time. Would be nice if they wern't seperate but it went well. I didn't text any "?" in though
