BHW New Catch of the Day

Location: Missouri | My mom passed away 3 years ago January 31 and I have been caring for her horse since then. My mom decided to start riding late in life and she was overweight and didn't have the best balance. I have let various "non" horse people ride her mare occasionally because she's really good at taking care of people who don't ride or the kind that think they ride, but......well you know, lol.
A long time friend of mine with a son that has Downs Syndrome had recently posted she was looking for a new horse for her son, as he was out growing his POA. I prayed about it, and contacted her.
They came out this past weekend, the day before the 3 year anniversary of my mothers death, to try out the mare. I prayed about it again that morning before they came, as this was not an easy decision for me and at an emotional time.
Praise be to God.........Jack did wonderful, my mom's mare tolerated his lack of balance and his inability to mount gracefully, just as she had tollerated my mom. Jack smiled from ear to ear as he kept her on the rail at a trot. Jack will be showing her in the walk trot class and halter.
They left and said they needed to think about it. Less than an hour later on the 2 hour drive home, they contacted me and a deal was made.
I couldn't be happier that my mom's horse is going to be loved by such a special little boy. I can't help but think that my mom is very pleased as well. |

Location: Missouri | Thanks everyone! I feel good about this decision and I'm excited for Jack. Mom's mare never took less than 2nd in a mare halter class, so I can't wait to see pictures of him coming out of the arena with 1st place Blue ribbons! He should place high in walk/trot too. She's got that perfect head set and pleasure trot. |

| A couple of our horses are used in our local Special Olympics program. I don't think all the trophy buckles and saddles in the world can make you feel the way you do when one of those riders gets their medals or ribbons.
That one little mare is going to bring so many people so much joy just by watching that young man show her. |
