Do you think this could be a nice little barrel horse? Not trying to make NFR or anything but I competitive jackpot horse at least I hope!

Sire is by Playgun (I have heard people say Freckles playboy/Jewels Leo bar horses can run and also that Docs Hickorys can run) and out of a peppy San badger daughter out of a doc bar daughter (I have heard both good things and also that PSB can be Broncs I do not want a bronc lol.

Dams 5 generations go to Leo 4 times and she also has Doc Olena on her papers. The rest I am not familiar with I see they have earnings/have produced in cow stuff but I don't know beyond that. I found an old video of the dam saying she had been a barrel horse but couldn't find anything else on her.

I had a 14.2 cow bred mare that went back to Leo  a few times and she made atop notch barrel horse in Oregon. Broke a lot of arena records.Never underestimate a cowbred horse with hart!.

Playgun has a son up here in the PNW, PG Dry Fire that produced a barrel futurity champion.
We have a Freckles Playboy stud that has produced a 1D barrel horse and my daughter has a Docs Hickory that's a 1D/rodeo horse. Both are barely 14 hands and are just as competitive in a big pen as they are in a smaller one.
Both ours have PSB as well, the stud gets fresh sometimes but nothing serious more just playful and our daughters horse hasn't bucked a day in his life.

If the sire really is Playgun I'd buy it in a second!

I think this horse could make a great barrel horse.  Very nicely bred based on what you told us.

My best horse was Doc Bar and Jewels Leo bred. She's 23 now and retired and I miss being able to run her every day. She was fast, cowy and catty. Easy easy ride. I have her daughter who is just turning 4 and I can not wait to see if she's as good. I actually look for these bloodlines. Doc Bar, Jewels Leo, Freckles etc. I love my big running bred guys but I absolutely adore my cow breds!

If you don't think so you can send her my way

I have a double bred Peppy San Badger gelding that I ADORE. I started him on the pattern in November and I can't wait to enter him for the first time here in a couple weeks. He is a turning machine.

He was a safe bet too as we also rope so if he didn't/doesn't pan out we still have a job for him. He was started in the cutting pen and loooooooves to chase some cows

Her sires sire is Playgun he's (playgun X PSB daughter). It's the dams side I know less about but double bred Leo's question with two other lines to Leo, and Doc Olena on the papers as well.

Well that is kinda what I am thinking I hope she works out the breeder says she has a born broke attitude and great personality and I figured if she doesn't work out I can at least have other markets that would be interested in her! She's got pretty factor too. I had a gelding that had a garbage disposition but was holy cow well bred colored and pretty and even though I was super transparent I had people lining up to buy him lol

Doc O Lena, Playgun, Leo......YES YES YES. There is no reason that horse shouldnt have potential to be a great barrel horse.

Playgun and Leo I like, I'm not a fan of the doc bars I don't think they have a lot of run and the ones I've had have been stubborn, thankfully they were crossed with run. Leo's are great foundation and super hardy old school lines, my foundation cow bred mares are very smart and super catty in the barrel pen. I have one that's Leo/triple chick/ that I LOVE but she is a witch lol

Ok well i need some tips lol...

I have a 4yo filly straight cow bred and we are having battle royals with each other.... We been doing lots of groundwork and we have worked the patterns, she just thinks its her way or highway

She is out of OSU Top Gun (Real Gun x Playgun) her dam is by Mr Sun O Lena (Doc O lena x Doc Bar)

She is very smart and left brained...

I have been told its the Playgun breeding making her sull up and throw her temper tantrums, is this true?

Any info would be great, as she is my first straight cow bred horse
