My gelding seems to fall apart after being hauled to a couple barrel races health wise. He looses weight fast. He will go from looking like a halter horse to looking like a sale barn horse over night. For the sake of this conversation lets assume it is not ulcers. He has also been test for every disease under the sun. What are some good whys to keep him feeling good or a immune booster? Any ideas?

I have used Immune Support from Silver lining herbs and liked it. I currently feed mushroom matrix products.

Assuming it's not ulcers I would add Oxy-Gen's immunize as a daily top dress to your feed program it has patented beta glucan technology which is basically a natural antibiotic. You use 1oz per day. Or you can buy the fast acting paste which you can use when your just away at shows to keep your horse supported.

Honestly before I read please assume it's not ulcers, ulcers were the first thing that popped into my mind. I would use jailbreak pre race which will neutralize stomach acid, open air ways, provide electrolytes, etc. It's $25 for a 4 dose tube so not treating ulcers but if you notice a huge difference it will give you somewhere to start.

I started using Oxy-Gen products about 7 years ago and became a rep 3 years ago. If you have any questions message me and I would be glad to go into further detail.

I agree with R Dale. Oxygen Immunize and the paste. But I would go a step farther and get some Oxymax and Gut Integrity. MY mare used to do the same thing and it was hind gut ulcers. You might not need the immunize if you do the Oxymax.

My idea as well. That has ulcers written all over it. Personal experience with a mare I just bought and a friend has a show horse that looks like he dropped 50# from the time you load him in the trailer to 2 hrs later when he gets out at the horse show. He was checked and positive for ulcers. She keeps him on THE gastroplus during his entire show season, as it is a safe supplement to have them on at all times. She will double dose hers a day or so before she hauls and during the show. It has changed his attitude even at the shows.

I also agree with RDale!   We have a lot of people using the Immunize as well and they are loving the results.  I haven’t used it on any of mine yet but have been using the Mega Oil and absolutely love that product.  I’m a rep as well but won’t step on RDale’s toes :)

We have used MVP's In Sync and Gastroplex and really like these products. We use these on young and older horses. message me to get a coupon for special offer. :

Edited to say: they also have a 60 day money back guarantee on their products. I've been using several of their products for 10+ years.

I would treat for ulcers too, then try either Stomach by Cur-ost or I had good luck before I found that with Forco.

I asked to assume it is not ulcers because I have treated this horse for ulcers. He did a month of gastro guard. Now he gets omeprazole before, during and after shows. He is on Forco and aloe. We treated him a year ago and been on this preventive protocol as recommended by his vet ever since. It still is not solving (even though a very logical explanation) to why he feels like crap after stress.

Okay, so lets assume it isn't ulcers. I'm gonna assume also like my little mare he doesn't then eat or drink all the well on the road and tends to stress at the trailer and or in the stall. Her immune system was down also so she was on ENC's immune herbs for about 6 months and Cur_ost has helped at the few races I've been able to get to with her standing quietly at the trailer and actually eating her hay in her hay bag instead of using the hay bag as a tether ball and pawing all day.

You might also think about using Pozzi relax. But I would still do the Gut Integrity and then switch to the Oxymax.

I feel like I would have a horse like the OP if I wasn't able to find Cur-Ost and get my 5 year old started on it to fix some things I had a feeling weren't just right. This is all prior to her being hauled like a grown up now, she is just starting her career.  She is on Cur-Ost Total and starting Stomach. I'm going to nip anything I can before it develops. I'll add Adapt and Calm if needed . So thankful for Cur-Ost in my barn!

ETA:
My main subject of starting Cur-Ost was my allergy ridden mare, I had her on Oxygen products prior (along with other aides etc) and wasn't really convinced either 2X or Immunize were doing anything and she didn't look as good as she does now being on Cur-Ost.

Immune Boost is designed to boost the immunity for the upcoming show season so your animal's health is at the highest level. Comprised of three of the most powerful immune building ingredients, human grade L-Lysine, Triphala from India, and human grade Threonine.
It is very affordable!

Have you tried keeping hay out for him 24/7 when hauling, in addition to upping concentrate?

Seems simple but some people can overlook stuff like this.

I also give probiotic if mine seems to have stomach upset.

NOT ALL HORSES HAVE STOMACH ISSUES (LEAKY GUT) BUT I DO AGREE WITH THE INFLAMATION. MOST PERFORMANCE HORSES HAVE INFLAMATION TO SOME LEVEL. i BELIEVE THERE IS A PLACE FOR CUROST BUT NOT FOR ALL HORSES. I HAVE CHANGED FROM CUROST TO OXYGEN. AND WITHIN 36 HOURS MY MARE WAS NO LONGER ACTING LIKE SHE WAS TIRED OR DEPRESSED. SHE ACTED LIKE 4 YEAR OLD COLT. I AM ADRESSING THE STOMACH AND LUNGS AS WELL AS FEET AND JOINTS. IF THIS WAS MY HORSE I WOULD GET SOME POZZIE RELAX AND SEE IF IT HELPED BEFORE A RUN. THE JAILBREAK GI IS ALSO A GOOD OPTION. THEY HAVE A PRODUCT CALLED GUT INTEGRITY THAT WORKS VERY WELL FOR A HORSE WITH STOMACH ISSUES. IF IT IS ULCERS , I BELEIVE THEY HAVE A OXY ULCER ALSO. AND NO I DONT SELL IT. IM JUST SUGGESTING SOME OPTIONS.

If they are hind gut ulcers, none of those treatments will touch them.

Rhino shot then a booster shot the next week then skip 2 weeks and give a third booster shot. That is what my vet from Ruidoso suggests.

From what I was told Oxymax helps both .
