Never had one, but I sat in a Marty Byrd at the BFA and loved the feel! Not much help tho!

The few reviews I could find online were really good...

We have a ranch cutter that we bought used. It is one of my favorite saddles to ride

Marty builds a beautiful saddle that is very quality and well built.  I've had 2 of them, one barrel saddle and one cutter, and they were both top notch.

I have sat in a Marty Byrd saddle, but never ridden in one, so my opinion doesn't count on feel. HOWEVER, I know Marty personally and he's a class act who pays attention to details when making saddles or braiding bull ropes. One year 10 of the top 15 bull riders at the NFR were using his ropes. I have been to his saddle shop as well and my next saddle will be a Marty Byrd. I've been fortunate to ride several custom saddles and trust Marty's work, judgement and skills. I know if you request something, you will get it or he will tell you up front what he's not comfortable putting his name on. Enjoy the process!

Thanks!  I've found a good used one.  Very plain roughout only, but if it's functional, what the heck!
