A good description of Chrisitan life: " a land of hills and valleys" Deutomony 11:11
Psalm 43:1 Vidicate me, O god, and plead my cause against an ungodly nation; oh deliver me from the deceitful and unjust man! 2 For You are the God of my strength; Why do You cast me off?

As we read Psalm 43, we hear someone experiencing the hills of delight and the valleys of depression. Emotions were like a spiritual roller coaster. Have you ever been like that?
Hills and valley both in the same day! " You are my strength, immediately followed by " Why do You cast me off?"
I did this weekend, started out so good, making check, then, hitting barrels. UGH. My horses worked so good, ground was deep and they just turned too close.
So often discontentment and despair are self induced. The fact is, today you can choose to praise or choose to pout.
I CHOOSE TO PRAISE! I hate hitting barrels, but I'm so thankful I'm still able to compete. yes, I feel my age, (62) has made me not as quick to react to my horses when needed, I do get behind at times.
Hindering their performance. That's something I can work on, I am lifting weights to strengthen my upper core.
Why do we get so disquieted? The first clue, is use of personal pronouns, I, me, and my. One reason we can be depressed is having and unhealthy fixation on ourselves; my problems, my feelings, my needs, me , me , me....
If we look closely we can discover not only the cause of depression but the cure. The Pslamist began a plea in the valley, but five verses later he was praising God on the hills. (4) then I will go to the altar of God, to God my exceeding joy; and on the harp I will praise You, O God, O God. He came to realize a healthy attitude can change a disposition, it's not about us; IT'S ABOUT GOD!
It's not about your weakness; GOD IS YOUR STRENGTH. Like the palmist, cry out to God. Focus on His deliverance, His defense , and His absolute dependability. YOU CAN TRUST HIM. Remember it's not about you.
Then instead of following feelings or friends, trust Him to direct your the way you should go. He will lead and guide you with His Word because His Word is truth. Before you know it you have traveled from praying to pondering, and now you are praising Him in unrestrained joyful worship. What started with me ended with God!
Yes, my weekend did'nt end like "I " wanted, but there another barrel race. I AM BLESSED to be able to ride and enjoy what I do. It's humbling to let go of this weekend of barrel hitting, but it allows me to move forward and be excited for the next race.
For it is WITH God all things are possible
Have a VERY BLESSED Monday! CHOOSE to PRAISE God even during the storms, valleys, for the hill is just ahead AMEN
Father God, guide me today to do all things that bring glory and honor to You Amen
