| Having to put our old Lab down today. He got down in the back in and can't get up. I know it's the right thing to do so why does it feel so awful? |

| So sorry, it is never easy when you have a big heart for our 4 legged family members. We will be in your shoes soon, my husbands 13 year old Aussie has cancer, we declined treatment wanting her to live out last days as peacefully as possible. She is still spunky and feeling eating but we see signs that the cancer is taking its toll. |

| I am SO sorry. My family dog was put down in December and he too had hind end issues in the end and could not get up. He lived in the house with us as kids growing up and now with my parents for a total of 14 years -- I don't care what anyone says, the grief is as much as losing a person. Hugs to you. |

| I hope you find peace with your decision, your dog was not having quality of life if he was unable to move his hind end.
It is hard because animals and dogs in particular give us unconditional love. Peace comes with knowing that he has passed on to a far better place where he no longer is in pain.
Prayers that you find comfort grieving is normal. |

Oh no. . . I'm so so sorry. I'm afraid I'm in the same situation in the next little while with Foxy. I just keep repeating to myself to do what's right for him even when it's not easy for me. . . Many hugs and prayers for you |

| I'm sorry you had to do this, but i'm sure you know it was because you loved him. I had to put Shorty down last July and it was such a sad day,but in the end, it was because I loved him so much and probably I was being selfish or a coward and should have done it a little sooner. I hope you find peace in your decision. |

| I just was unable to bring myself to get back on here to read the replies until today. Gosh, thank you ALL for such kind, thoughtful words. That whole day felt like I was out of my body just going through the motions - probably one of the top 5 worst days of my life. I know I did right by him but man, it's a hard pill to swallow when you have to make that call.
I was lucky enough to be able to get the vet to come to the house and I can't thank him enough as I was about at wit's end. He was too big to get in a car or truck and I just couldn't handle going to the clinic in front of everyone. I can't say enough good about my vet - he was my hero that day as strange as that sounds.
Thank you all for being in my corner - I am beyond words. |
