I have a 4 year old OTQH, she is going well and on track for the smaller futurities this spring. When we ride she is a drunk worm so I tried a hackamore to stiffen her up a little, I tried a beetle hack and a little s and both were a little too stiff for her. I then tried a gag headstall with a life saver that seems to work well but am worried its a little too much and will make her hard mouthed. I do have soft hands and worry that I cant be perfect all the time. She is a very high headed horse and light on her front end but ends up hollow rather then round. We are working on these things but I think I would like some suggestions on bits to try on her. Any ideas?

You could run in the gag headstall since it works and train in a different bit if you want to keep it fresh. I don't think you will make her hard mouthed with your soft hands using it right if you used it all the time.

Call dutton s anytime I'm stumped they know exactly what i need. If i wanted to stiffen one up i would really work on the outside reign squares and concentrate on what his hips were doing really driving the inside hock in the squares or circles, move the hips do counter circles and countercanter when you feel his hip swinging. Try a bit with a shank alternate with your o ring if you like riding in it and just enough bend that you see the corner of his eye keep us posted

If you've been riding her in a hack and want to stay with one, I'd try a Jim Warner. I am also light handed and love to use it. It has some bend to it but you can also use it for lift or to stiffen them up. Good luck!
