What are your favorite bloodlines and what do you like about them so much? What are some really user friendly lines?

Ones I have had experience around and love (because I don't do anything that is not user friendly) are Burrs First Down, Ivory James, Guys Piece Ofthe Pie, Stoli, Coronas Leaving You. All are very easy to be around, have people pleasing attitudes, and good work ethics.

Thank you guys! I can't find any sun frost in my area ever for what I can afford lol but will keep looking! I am afraid of blue valentine and driftwood lol I have heard Valentines are spooky and watchy and that's one of the biggest issues with my current horse, too busy watching everything to work! And driftwoods I have heard are terrible to start but then generally nice. I do know one mare that is said to be driftwood but has no papers to prove it and I do love her aside from her head and neck which are not too pretty lol

This is a picture of our Blue Valentine/Hancock/Driftwood 3 year old. Her first time ever sat on and she fell asleep. I love the work ethic of the foundation horses and my program is heavy in regards to that. The horse in my avatar is over 20% Driftwood. My one filly pictured is from Cross Spur, and our other mare is Driftwood/Sun Frost.

I may be alone here because I know they can be quirky little handfuls - but I love an OTMR bred horse. All the ones I've ridden have just been powerful free runners that once they learn their job, they want to left alone to work.. Rearin' to go in the alley way and never let up through the pattern. My own son of OTMR, out of a Go Man Go dam was one of the best horses I ever owned.

Love my Top Moon and Poco Bueno bred horses. Id have to say the horse i have now (in my avatar), is my 3rd once in a lifetime horse after my other 2 were tragically hit and killed, both by the same truck, at the same time. He has a heart of GOLD and id take a pasture full of him if i could! He goes back to Doc Olena on the bottom and Leo on the sire side.

Id say my Top Moon/Leo/Doc Olena horses were/ARE the most user friendly. My Poco Bueno was a little hard headed and hard to figure out at first.

I wish I had loved my own son of OTMR that I had. He was huge and gorgeous to boot! But WOW. One of the most hard headed most slow learning, stubborn horses Ive ever had! Sometimes I wish i had kept him longer just to see how he wouldve turned out. I do wish i knew where he was today!

I guess I would have to throw Top Moon in also--the bulk of our broodmare band is built around this mare on the right, she is a daughter of Joe Tee--who was by Top Moon. The other two are her daughters by Sun Frost and we have four more daughter of hers in our broodmare band.

You have to check out "JL Sirocco" from the Jill Lane breeding program!! He is by Dash Ta Fame out of a winning barrel racing daughter of Band Of Azure. His first crop of colts is hitting the barrel arena this year and they are so special.
Jill's site is www.jilllaneqh.com
You won't be disappointed!!!!

My favorites, hands down, Peptoboonsmal and High Brow Cat. Not for everyone and both lines can have an attitude at times but I "click" with them. I also have a deep love for Sun Frost horses.

User friendly lines - Firewater Flit, Flit Bar, Streakin Six

I rode an OTMR daughter and really liked her too.  She was anything but a free runner though! You worked for every inch you got.  Once she trusted me we really bonded.

I would say my most favorite is FWF, with Shawnee Bug a close second.  :

Love my Dash for Perks! Strong, gritty, and definitely have their own unique attitudes. The ones I have been around don't really like being loved on and fussed over, but they love to work.Another bloodline I absolutely love is Flit Bar Beggar. Don't hardly see many of them anymore. My old horse was a Flit Bar Beggar x Top Moon and I don't know if I've ever been on a more honest horse in my life. You could do anything horseback on him. Loved his work ethic.

Osceola Warrior...once you ride one you will never be satisfied with anything else. Heart, Grit, Bone, and foot!! They are what dreams are made of!

I do have some questions, if you don't mind. I'm not trying to be rude or snarky, so please don't take it that way. I know you have an Osceola Warrior stallion that you are obviously very high on. But this particular bloodline seems to be one that is almost extinct and very few horses have it. Over time, certain bloodlines usually disappear for a reason. Is the Osceola Warrior bloodline that great or do you have an exception to what the norm is? Or did Osceola Warriorbecome a regional thing that just never caught on in other parts of the country? I'm just curious is all. I enjoy researching bloodlines so your pick is fascinating to me since it's outside of the box and not very well known anymore. Thanks!

Not extinct...I do not think people realize just how many are out there still winning. For example JLS Mr. Bigtime is out of a Osceola Warrior daughter, Pslamist. Pslamist is still a top producing mare.

I think Osceola Warrior only caught on regionally as a barrel horse, because barrel racers could easily get their hands on them when they came off the track in Louisiana. And those horses were unbeatable, really tough rodeo horses. As far as still running down the track Osceola Warrior daughters are producing really great runners every day.

So i think sometimes people have gotten caught up with whats hot and selling v. what actually worked...and they just do not see the lines anymore because something else a little newer may be on top or bottom ....

To me there isn't a "vs" here. They are hot and selling because they actually worked. I have never seen another OW son standing. But I had a Burrs First Down son and BFD also stood most of his race career in LA. I have only seen a couple of BFD intact sons. Probably a reason there weren't others standing. I do know I loved mine and that is all that mattered to me.

I have a gelding that is Snicklefritz Chex bred and I LOVE HIM! He is a ham, he occassionally has to be reminded after time off that he does indeed have a job and is expected to work but once he is working he is a MACHINE!

I cannot pass up a JOH horse to save my life.

Docs Prescription, Streakin Six, Special Leader and I now have to say I'd give my right arm for an own daughter of No Mas Corona......

I was unaware that Burrs First Down stud in LA. Yet, he was more of a barrel racing sire than a Running horse sire.... where Osceola Warrior get went to the track, only a few made it to the barrel pen...and all of them that made it to the barrel pen done very well. I think this is the confusion. Osceola Warrior was a sire of runners and produced outstanding broodmares. Which in turn were the dams of excellent runners....only a hand full have went to the barrel pen because of this. To clarify what I mean is that the ones that did get to the barrel pen, other lines in their pedigree were looked at vs. Osceola Warrior being the reason the horses were so nice. With that being said. I have rode more than several OW's, and that is the reason I am so high on the blood line. It is not just because I own the only stallion by him. I have the only stallion by OW because I searched the world over for him because I rode so many that were some of the best horses I had ever sat on, rather it be to go down the track or the barrel pen. These horses just never let me down and the feel they have is different from other bloodlines I have rode.

KRJ1791 - 2016-02-20 6:51 AM I have a gelding that is Snicklefritz Chex bred and I LOVE HIM!

Now that is a line that are working fools!!! Easy going, laid back - that is a neat line that crosses well with lots of others - I like that the positive attitude is fairly dominant with the ones I have been around.

Flaming Jet, Flaming Jet, Flaming Jet....
That's all my X said he heard from me when we were together.
Had 3 and ALL were BIG winners. 1 was even a heading horse we took for resale & when we got the papers... Flaming Jet son. Funny to see the X see that one & I opted to keep him.

Gotta love his 1/2 brother Jet of Honor also. I had 2 & both were also money winners. They all wanted to run the barrels too.

I have had 3 LHDI. 1came from Terri & 1 was cold back that came from Deana & the other from a friend (she bought from Terri). Wanted to love them, but couldn't. Ended up roping on 1, trading 1, the cattle sale the other...
