| When do you feel is the best time to market a young gelding? He is four this year and by an up and coming popular stallion, out of a barrel producing mare of desired lines. Reining broke, and has been hauled to a handful of exhibitions, where he has always worked very nicely. I plan to keep hauling him and try to have him clocking competitively (in exhibitions) by late summer/fall. I, however, highly doubt that I will be able to financially give him the opportunities he deserves at the large futurities, so my question is....
Would you try to market him off of how he is clocking in exhibitions and his POTENTIAL as a futurity horse before the futurity year (2017) starts? Would you shoot for Summer, Fall, or even December?
Or
Would you try to make a few runs on him yourself in competition following December 1, and try to have credentials of things that he has won? Try to hit one or two futurities and see where he falls before selling? I have not entered him in the BFA, but I know there are a few early in the year I could probably still get him entered into.
Also need to mention he is paid in full to Future Fortunes and WPRA PESI program.
I appreciate all input, as I am not very familiar with the futurity world and I'd like to be sure this guy gets a good shot, as well as I'd like to make a little money as well ;) | |
