Location: Kentucky | I'm planning a trip in late September. I have decided on Oahu, but looking for "first time" tips visiting the island. Going to Pearl Harbor and visiting some volcanoes are on my list for sure. Anything else? We are low key people, but like site seeing. |

Location: Northwest Florida | I lived there for 4 years when I was in Elementary school.. Dad was stationed there. All I remember is a lot of beaches! We did go to Pearl Harbor, and we hiked up Diamond Head a lot. If you are into site seeing I would recommend that. |

If you don't like crowds stay at Turtle Bay on the North Shore. It is amazing and very secluded. If you like Manhattan, go to Waikiki. I'm sort of joking, but it really is INSANE on that part of the island. Enjoy your trip! It is beautiful!! |

True story...My husband went to his Doctor last month and he was in a cast and was riding around on a scooter. He told my husband he went to Hawaii and they went hiking up to a volcano and it started to rain and he slipped and fell off a ledge and broke his leg. They had to come and rescue him with a helicopter to get him out where he landed.

Location: Dearing, GA | I've been to Oahu. Definitely go see the U.S. Arizona, Daimond Head, and the royal palace downtown. North Shore is the best place for shark cage diving and scuba diving. You can PM me for specific company names if there is anything specific you're looking to book! |

Location: Adopt a homeless pet - www.petfinder.com! | We've been three times, twice to Oahu and twice to the Big Island. If you're only going to Oahu the only volcano you'll see is Diamond Head which is extinct, but totally worth the hike up for the fantastic views!! We have absoluately fallen in love with the Big Island and are planning a third trip there, hopefully this fall. We like it because its much less crowded than the Oahu and Maui, more rural and has the only active volcano, at Volcanos National Park. We were able to see lava flows the first time we went, what an experience that was!! Of course, it all depends on what mother nature is doing if you'll get to see lava or not. We've rented condos in Keauhou on the west side of the island, the dryer side that has calmer seas and more beaches. It's just a few minutes south of the town of Kailua-Kona and condo prices are very reasonable compared to other islands and the time of year. It's a very laid back island and not much nightlife, but that's fine with us. I could go on and on, feel free to PM if you want!!

LOL! I'm scared to death to go. The last time I went on vacation was 6 years ago, on my honeymoon, during the BP oil spill. That was SUCH a great time. Beaches and shops were closed. We actually left early to come home. |

My dad worked in Maui when I was 10ish and we were able to stay at a nice place during my Christmas break. Wonderful and very fun place! |

| Been once and I NEED to go back. Ditto to all that has been stated above. I liked Waikiki Beach but I am a people watcher. The only thing not mentioned yet is that you must go snorkeling. We went to Hanauma bay for this and it was spectacular. Definitely rent a car and drive around the entire island. We literally stopped at every beach we could, just got out and looked and went, Ahhhhhhhh! Bring several pairs of flip flops and shorts - I never put on a pair of jeans the entire week. Here is a small sampling - all were taken on Oahu.

| Murphy - 2016-02-18 9:39 AM That is gorgeous! Yes it is. You will love it. I had to go for work and had to really talk my husband into going along - not somewhere he ever had a desire to visit. After a lot of talking on my part we went, and took our son with us. BEST. VACATION. EVER. Turned off everything from work for a week (other than the work part I was there to do) and it was more relaxing than anywhere I've been in years. My husband has changed his tune and we'll go back again in the next few years. If I had to do it again though I'd look into renting a house or a condo. It would save on food costs for sure. Food is more expensive but I didn't find the grocery stores to be that awful. We stayed at the Holiday Inn Beachcomber - about $215 a night (there were cheaper ones but the reviews weren't great) and I found it decent. Short walk across the street to the beach! But for a week's stay - renting a house or condo would be about that same and you could save if you made some of your own meals. That is what we plan to do next time we go back. HAVE FUN and we want to see pictures!
