I bought a new to me trailer and I love it with one big exception: the ramp is so heavy it is hurting my back.
It has a few small springs on the rod/pin hinge and I could add a few more. I was wondering if anyone had a better idea or know a vendor of some heavy duty springs to help pick it up.
When I google it, I did find some springs with long arms on them called trailer tailgate springs but I'm only finding vendors in Australia and they won't ship to USA.
Any ideas for a fix or know a vendor that has parts to ship?

I have a ramp on my trailer, the weight is just right for me to beable to handle it without effort, but the rubber mat was wearing out on it so replaced with a heavery mat and holy cow it made my ramp so darn heavy I could not lift it any more by myself killed my back so got hubby to replace with a thiner mat and that sloved the problem of a heavy ramp. Wanted to tell you that my ramp is spring loaded so that makes it even better.

I am not sure of the brand of your trailer but a friend of mine has a Titan with a steel ramp. It has proved too heavy for her as well and she has damaged her shoulder. Titan has an aluminum ramp available that she has ordered becuase it is supposed to be so much lighter-but still durable. You might check with your trailers manufacturer and see if the have the same option.

I put a trailer tie on the side of my ramp and we have a little portable wench with a nylon strap that is hooked to my ladder. I just crank mine up by hand. I have a love hate relationship with my ramp, lol. I love that when I get somewhere I can just drop that ramp and it is easier to get into my tack compartment. But it would be nice to be able to just open the doors sometimes too.

I second the springs may be worn out...my ramp I can lift with one hand easily..but it is new (bought trailer last year)....I'd look into replacing the springs...NRS is where I bought mine maybe call them and see if they can service it or get you some parts? I know they have a whole service dept for trailers
