I have the option to send my youth rider and my horse to one of these clinics this year. The horse is blazing fast when he's pushed and the only time she can push him is heading home because hes a lot to handle, but they're still running 3D times... I'm just wondering which clinic would be the most beneficial for them as a team. We had planned on going to the Camarillo Clinic, but the McRae clinic seems just as good? please helppppp :)
You need to go find videos on both and decide from there which one you want to ride like. I know Marlene helps quit a few of the kids in our area so I know she gets along well with them.
I just attended a Sharon Camarillo clinic last month which was 80% youth riders. She was able to teach all of us alot. She really encouraged the kids but also gave them firm instruction on things they needed to improve. Quite a few of the drills would be helpful. She adapted many exercises to help with specific issues each rider might be having such as gate problems, not finishing the turn or rating too soon.

I have taken some one on one lessons with Marlene a few years ago.
She is big on perfect position for rider and horse during the pattern. Muscle memory is huge, so you work a lot on it. I certainly did learn something from her.
I watched a Sharon Camarillo video several years ago and decided I needed to go back to school just to figure out what the heck she was talking about. She needed to keep it simple.
FirstFirewater - 2016-03-04 8:29 PM I've found plenty of videos of Sharon's clinics but none of Marlene talking in a clinic. Maybe she keeps her "secrets" off YouTube? Lol
I went to one of Marlene's first clinics and did have a lot of it filmed but I don't have a clue where it is as it was back in 1986.

Well I called the McRaes this morning I got to personally speak with Doug McRae and ask plenty of questions. I'm leaning more towards the McRae clinic of course now, but love reading everyone's experience with these clinics.

I've been to both clinics and if you want support after the clinic...I would go with Marlene.
