Does anyone have experience with the treatment options of a Myectomy or Tenectomy for a horse who is suffering from DDSP?

How did it turn out? Were you happy with the results?

the idea behind the strap muscle myectomy is it prevents the soft palate from retracting caudally. the two ideas behind treating DDSP are- either pull the epiglottis forward, or prevent the soft palate from going so far back.
The myectomy gives you about 60% success

A lot of times now they combine the myectomy with a tie forward and that increases the success to around 80-87%

All in all, prognosis is based on the nature of the DDSP- is it displacing sometimes, or persistently? the ones who displace persistently have a lower prognosis regardless.

Other methods are thickening the soft palate, or removing extra soft palate. but when you remove the extra soft palate, you get into problems with aspiration pneumonia.
