Gelding appears sore to slight squeeze of hocks by hand. Seems to be moving/ riding / traveling sound and has never had an issue. What could this indicate? I mean, logic says to just not squeeze his hocks, but I don't think he should be so sensitive to that...now I think theres a problem. calling vet this am, but wanted some thoughts.
No obvious signs of heat or swelling, although I admittedly don't spend a lot of time looking at his hocks, I could be missing subtle swelling. Going to stop messing with them and give him until Monday to see if he is still sensitive to palpation. Then haul him to vet if necessary. Given he is not lame now or ever and that it is both hocks there is the possibility of fusing? Some horses get tender with it? It makes no sense to me that all of his 1100 pound body can run and carry on and not miss a beat but my hand can cause him discomfort. IDK, and maybe some horses just don't like their hocks messed with and since I usually don't do much more than brush them, I didnt know it?
