Location: Texas Big Country | For those of you that understand the theory behind what location of hair whorls means, I have a curious question. I have heard that the 'zipper" or "wheat" whorl pattern that starts between the front legs and goes up the underside of the neck is very very bad, but I have never read just exactly what was bad. I would like details about what bad things are predicted. I have a horse with this pattern and am curious what people think it means. Also do you think it's a hereditary trait that would be passed on - the whorl pattern and also what ever bad behavior it indicates? I cant say I believe this or not, but I just wondered what bad thing it meant. |

Location: Wisconsin | All I know is that i own a mare that has TONS of whorls. The theory has been wrong on all of them. |

| I had a Morgan mare who had that same zipper whorl and she was one of the sweetest most loving horses I ever had. She was super easy to break and tried so hard. Great, great horse.
But I'm not sure what the whorl stands for.

| I read that an old Arab belief was that if they had the wheat pattern on their chest they would be fast and long lived. I have a mare with that pattern and she is sweet, a little aloof, but not spooky or mean. |

| There is a Facebook page called Equine Swirlology where you can post pics of your swirls and the lady will read them. |

Location: ND | http://horsemanship-journal.com/theory/whorlology/ this is an article I really enjoyed. I've played attention to the location/number of the swirls on their forehead for years and that has been pretty accurate. After reading this I had to go look closely at my most challenging horse and the article described him perfectly. |

Location: The South | Idk about swirls, but my Poco Tivio granddaughter has the weirdest overall hair and sweat pattern I've ever seen. Seriously strange! |

Location: South Central Florida | I don't know about them, I'm kind of afraid to read about them because I don't want to bias myself with my colt. My daughters mare, 1D and Open Rodeo horse, has the zipper thing you were describing. I didn't even realize that was a whorl.
My cold is 2 ( or about to be 2) and he has a bunch of them :o A friend told me NOT TO LOOK THEM UP. HAHAHAHAHA But so far he has been wonderful. Easy to train and an loves people. He is not broke yet, so I'm still holding my breath :)
Also, when he was born he had 3 on his forehead, but one has disappeared, which I thought was weird.
