Our text today Psalm 137:1-9 finds God's people in Babylon.
Babylon represents a place of judgment. God's people are there for a reason: they have refused to obey His commandments and walk in Hiis ways!
When we read this pslam, we realize that the Israelites recognized that the path they had chosen was not the right path. They had followed the path they desired, and now they were suffering the consequences! Realization of what their decision had brought them caused them to weep.
We who are God's children often find outer selves in the same position as Israel. We follow our own paths rather than God's and end up in a spiritual desert. We are to excercise spiritual discipline. Let's stay away from Babylon and experience the joy of walking with God. Let's listen to the right voice so we might rejoice. Longing for Zion(God) in a foreign land.
Psalm 137: 1 By the rivers of Babylon, there we sat down , yea, we wept when we remembered Zion. 2 We hang our harps upon the willows in the midst of it. 3 for there those who carried us away captive askers of us a song, and those who plundered us requested mirth, saying Sing us one of the songs of Zion!
For it is WITH God all things are possible
Have a VERY BLESSED SPIRITUAL Friday, and weekend
Father God, guide me today to do all things that bring glory and honor to You Amen
