Location: Never in one place long | I've owned several mares in my lifetime but never have had one that got really nasty while in heat... when I say nasty I don't mean her temperament but her back end is ALL nasty, her tail, legs etc. Is there anything you can do to prevent this? I'm guessing not but it's SO gross! I didn't even know mares could be like this as the 10+mares I've had at my house before were nothing like that. This mare is 5 years... |

| Keep her washed down daily on heinie, between legs and udder ..
Then apply Vaseline or Frurazone to keep her from scalding herself ...
When sore between the hind legs (geldings too for sweating) horses get some protective habits and it takes time to undo these fears of hurting themselves
If she has a gelding buddy ... move one of them ..
GOOD LUCK |

Location: East Texas | I had a mare I had to give regumate to, but now they have an implant. It last 3-6 months depending on the mare. It's small pellets they put under the skin on their neck. I have a mare just like your talking about and it was a life saver! It gives the same effects as regumate except you do not have to deal with regumate everyday! |

Location: Texas | I've had great luck with both Oxy Mare and Animal Element products. My mare is ill temperment and sore when she comes in heat. I use to do the implant under the skin and it worked the best but I see a huge difference in using these products as well. |

one can hope anyway |

Is the Oxy Mare and Animal element something you give every day. |

Location: SW North Dakota | My daughter's mare is a hussy and seemed to cycle MUCH more often than she should. I took her to the vet to have her checked for abnormalities. He recommended these microparticles, which we tried last year. It's expensive (like $140/mo), but worth EVERY penny. No more cycles, she's nicer to be around, no more goopy tail and back legs and she performs better. Plus I only have to deal with an injection once a month.

Location: Land of the Icicles, Minnesota | I have the same problem! Her temperament has not changed but she is gross! We are going to get a exam done by our vet before we start any supplements. Ive heard that Mare Magic can help too-less expensive than other things out there. Worth a try I guess! |
