| We just purchased a home in Central Tx, just outside of Killeen. I am coming from out of state, so I will be looking for a vet, farrier, hay supplier, etc. I do not know any horse people in the area to ask. I found Brazos in Salado, thoughts on them as a vet? Also, will be looking for places to run at as well. |

| A lot of people from N LA and NETX use Outlaw Equine in Decatur. It is a very long drive from here so the must be good. Lonestar may be in Stephenville they are supposed go be good. Brazos is supposed to be good too. |

Location: Central Texas | I'm about 10 minutes from Killeen. I use Belton Vet Clinic which is next to the Expo center on Loop 121 in Belton. I get coastal hay from Barfields which is straight down the road from the vet clinic. I drive to Gatesville for my feed ( I feed Renew Gold and Chaffhaye) they are the only place I have found those two items in a 50 mile radius. Depending on which area you are in I might be able to recommend a couple of farriers and a couple of individuals for hay suppliers. Barfields is a business that deals in hay (he has it shipped in) which is great that I know he will always have hay and it is almost (one time in the last 7 or so years I was less than happy) always good quality but you will pay a little extra vs getting it from an individual. |

Belton Feed Store carries renew gold, not sure about chaffhaye though. I use the Belton vet clinic for everything. And Barfield is great! He carries the Omnis cubes. |

Location: CTX | Welcome to CTX. You will find a lot of races around. You can find most of them on facebook. PM me if you want more info. Also for farrier info. I get my hay from Barfield's in Belton, John has great coastal and alfalfa, he also carries the Omnis cubes. My go-to vet is the Belton vet clinic on loop 121 (next to the expo center) they have a number of vets, for all sorts of animals, so if you have cats/dogs or other critters, no matter. They can help you. Personally I have not used the vet in Salado in years, no particulair reason. I just like the people at the BVC. I get my grain at the Temple tractor supply, they order Renew Gold for me. Don't stock it, but so far have been good about getting it in on time. Killeen TSC will order it too if you ask.

Location: Tx | We use Brazos (formally Dr. T's) in Salado. Dr. Honnas in Bryan is awesome as well. Lots of big races held in Waco and if you are looking for jackpots and 5d's there is one every (or almost every) Tuesday in Mcgregor (find Se'Vette Tatum Early on fb for info on these), Georgetown 5d's will be starting back up soon (http://www.riderodeotexas.com/Barrel-Races.html) and of course we have NBHA's and CTBRA's.

As much as I like suporting the local stores I can't justify paying $8 more per bag for Renew Gold. Last time I went to the Belton feed store I had to pay $37.95 for a bag.... against the $29.95 at TSC. But it is nice to know they carry it if I get in a pickle. But I try to order more when I get down to 2 bags, and that is usually more than enough time to get my order in. |

Location: Tx | We actually quit using Belton Vet after a (now ex) friend of mine had her world champion reiner killed. She didn't find out until the next day after they disposed of him. Not sure of the name of the person or if they still work there but that is the reason my family no longer uses them for big stuff... We still go there for coggins, minor issues and I take my dogs there but we never lameness or major illness or injury. We do like the people there and know a lot of them and I am sure it was just one of those freak things that can sometimes happen but it still makes me slightly uneasy.
ETA: It was some type of drug issue... The vet mixed incorrect meds, or overdosed him, I don't really remember exactly, but their insurance paid out a very large settlement to her for the loss of him.

I know their price on the renew gold is higher. TSC in temple carries it as well but it's hit or miss if they have it in |

Oh I know. That's why I just go in and order it specifically, and I will get a print out of the order. That way they will hold it for me till I pick it up. |

Do you have to order a certain amount to get them to get it in and hold? I had heck trying to get it there a while back. I just gave up and switched feed after seeing the price at the feed store for it! |

ETA, so I got 2 bags that they had in stock, and ordered 4 more on a raincheck. I have a print out of the order and will get a phonecall when they come in.
