| After reading all the forums about Cur Ost, Platinum, MVP, herbs, etc. I was wondering what is everyone's favorite supplement for joints. I have a young horse with "weak" stifles and she regularly gets them injected. She is currently on gastroplex for ulcers. I am also interested in finding a supplement for calming...I read about Cur Ost EQ Adapt and was wondering what everyone's thoughts are. I have tried Lubrisyn and honestly didn't see a huge difference, same with Adequin.  |

| I didn't really believe in feed throughs but I am having great results with tight joints plus. I saw almost an immediate difference. |

| Weak stifles are different then sore hocks as an example.
A weak stifle it is more of a mechanical problem, the tendons/ligaments need more conditioning to tighten up.
I am not sure you will find s miracle cure for your issue, I think it will be more of a conditioning fix.
Long trotting, straight lines, flat ground, for the first month, then introduce hills, backing up, trotting over poles. |

| Calming supplements seem to be really hit or miss in my experience. My gelding does great on Adapt but I have a mare that does a lot better on THE calming cookies.
I agree with Cheryl, it sounds like the stifle thing is going to respond better to conditioning. |

Location: Weatherford, Texas | Supplements are not going to get you what you are looking for.....and 99.99% aren't actually tested with valid tests so all you are doing is making it harder on your horse's kidneys to process out all the extra crud you are giving them.
BUT----I have had to deal with weak stifles on a few horses. My hubby has a history in sports therapy and he likens mares to women and knee problems. Either way----if you are injecting anyway at this young of an age you are putting a time limit on your horse. Instead you should chemically blister the stifle. They inject a chemical to inflame the stifle and then you ride the crud out of them so that the body actually thickens those ligaments (this is the part that mares are like women---thinner knee ligaments).
Hill work or pulling things also helps stifles and are great exercises to do both before and after the blister. For all the ones we have had to do thru the years, we have never had to blister more than once and never had to inject after that.
P.S. Don't snip the ligament. You can either chemical or manual blister it but I have always like the chemical better. |

I have samples of THE Calming Cookies. Pm me your address and I can zip you some over in the mail. They are all natural, do not test and will not take the run out of them. There is literally nothing in them that will take run out, but they give them a sense of well being. Puts them in their happy place. |

| I try not to push my own product on these forums as I just feel people think I am just blowing smoke lol. Tight Joints Plus was made for just our barrel horses and race horses. Friends started using it, word got out, and here we are 4 years later expanding throughout the country and number 1 selling joint supplement sold in retail stores throughout the Northwest for 3 years in a row. A lot of people will say that feed through joint supplements will not work but then they are feeding some other supplement. A lot of the reason joint supplements do not work is because they don't have enough anti-inflammatory ingredients to get the inflammation out that is causing the pain. That was our goal with Tight Joints Plus. If you can't get the inflammation out you just aren't going to get relief. I am a barrel racer myself, I rehab horses for a living, and have tried lots of products just as anyone else. Right now my horses are on Seabuck and Tight Joints Plus and it is working great. It is simple, horses are calmer, horses are sound. I haven't injected anything in several years. My horses are running tough and they look absolutely amazing. I think the biggest think with supplements is keep it simple. If you have a pain free happy horse it will get rid of a lot of issues.

Location: North Dakota | My 23rd year old gelding went from gimping around on 3 legs most of the time to running around like a wild man. All thanks to Cur-OST Pure and total support. I had tried many feed through supplements including GLC 5500, smartpak brand, cosequin and several others. I didnt' see any improvement till Cur-OST. Different supplements work for different horses. Cur-OST has worked for both my horses. |

| Thanks everyone for the advice. This horse gets worked a good bit during the week. I am unable to work her on hills but I try to make up for it with other exercises. When I bought her she was getting them injected all the time, like every 3-6 months with hardly any runs in between. I eventually just stopped injecting her because I was flushing money down the toilet and started exercising her more focusing on her stifles. She has not been injected since last summer and seems to be just fine. She is one that will act out if she is in pain and as of now she is acting better than ever. I am not looking for a cure or anything, just something for maintenance. She is trying her little heart out for me and I am just trying to help her out :) I do believe in supplements as my Gastroplex is working miracles on her! I think I am going to either try the Tight Joints Plus or Exceed 6 way just because the Gastroplex is working so well. |
