I know there have been a lot of posts about favorite bits but I'm specifically looking for information on transition bits from the o-ring/d ring.
What are some you use and why? How does the bit work?
Thanks!
Go online trainingbarrelhorses.com they have a large section on trainers and bits, many explain why they use what they do. Very informative site!
Edited to add, on the above site, Kendra Dickson has a short video talking about only 2 bits but is packed with info on her thoughts about those bits :)
I did look at a couple like Jordan and Tanas. While I have enjoyed the site those videos only talked about what bits they use, not necessarily the modalities and in what instance they would use them, what they're trying to accomplish. I haven't gotten to look farther in the archives but will try later. I'm a person who wants to know WHY and HOW something works. I've found bit description on websites to not be informative.
I second the Junior Cow Horse bits. I have all the mouth types they have. Have a wide variety of mouth pieces that suit almost every specific horses need/style. I love them and preach them to everyone. A great all around bit.
Thank you! I'm still learning and trying to understand bits and the how/why/when of them. I have the Jr cow in multiple mouth pieces as well and do really like them. I went back through some archive videos on trainingbarrelhorses.com and found Molly Montgomery bit segment and was glad to see she "endorsed" the use of it. I also loved danyelle Campbell bit segment, very informative. I have several Carol Goosetree bits as well. I know a few more bits I need to buy now too. My husband will be thrilled!
